Final Fantasy VII Remake

Those guys were hilarious to watch. They go totally nuts for the Shenmue reveal minutes later too :p

Yeah it is brilliant. They just about regain their composure after the FFVII reveal, and try and concentrate on the game being talked about next...then the Shenmue music begins and they go mad:D

It is a great video just because it is so genuine

We still have the original so its not like they can ruin anything with a remake lol.

Even though I sometimes hated the million random battles in FF7 I hope they keep the combat system close to the original. I really don't like the idea of real time combat for it. Turn based can still be fun in 2015 and it would make it unique among all the other rpgs were getting lately.

I don't see how there going to do this game and keep everything intact as its a massive game.
Im mostly curious how places will look without the static backgrounds now.

And yet changing the combat means its no longer FFVII. You can't have a Dark Souls remake have turn based combat, you can remake Fallout 3 and give it No More Heroes combat, they would no longer be the games people love.

I think people would be happier if they are just straight up honest about it.

If it's s reimagining that's fine but to call it a remake and then fundamentally change the game is just playing on people's connection to the game to boost sales. FFVII was a combination of great story & mechanics that worked, changing the combat is akin to removing one of two fundamentals of the game.

Just be honest square!

To be fair, there will be reactions like this when they finally announce HL3

Not like they've had much of a wait. The original HL released the same year as FF7 made its debut on the PC/windows platform back in '98 (obviously the psx version came earlier)

Liked the original.. bit worried that the current culture might encourage them to actually break the game up into DLC if they are rebuilding from the ground up.

This is exactly why - while I'm excited about it - I will not be pre-ordering, or at least not until there's some confirmation about what has/hasn't been changed.

I think there is room for improvement. The original combat was pretty awful looking. The jump forward, hit, go back looked kinda naf and I think they are right that reimaging the game and leaving that in would be jarring.
That said, I think the turn base style should stay, it would more be a case of reworking the combat so that it looked more active (even if that just meant shots fired and swords swinging without any actual effect until you take your turn - like in the background of big sword fighting battles, you know, the extras swinging away and achieving nothing while the main characters fight it out)

If you've never played it I think the Steam version of the original is about £5 and even though the graphics are terrible by anything of today's standard you should really give it a shot as it's still a great game with an amazing story.

While that is true, depending on how much they have tinkered with the game beyond graphics, I personally would wait and shell out the full whack of money to enjoy the game for the first time with awesome graphics to go along with the story.
I am actually jealous I have already played and completed the game as I would love to experience it the first time ever with modern graphics.

I'm just replaying it on steam now and it is great regardless of the garbage graphics. The combat and feel of it still work so well.
