****Official OcUK Fury X Review Thread****

Fury is a nice card for the price (price gouging excepted).

Advantages
Wins some but loses most against 980Ti.
Water cooled for the same price as a 980Ti
Brings AMD back into the game at high end. Yes it is slightly slower than 980Ti overall but it definitely is a competitor.
Has helped bring 980Ti prices down

Negatives
Wins some but loses most against 980Ti :)
Poor overclocker until/if the voltage gets unlocked
4GB VRAM IS a limit at 4K and possibly 1440p.
No HDMI 2.0

I am sticking with my 980Ti order as for me at 4K it is a better option IMHO.

Yeah I thought I would put these up to show that the Fury X does get a fair few wins. In between the trolling and baiting going on towards AMD the fact that the Fury X does hold it's own could be missed.

For me this is the most worrying point, quoted from one of the reviews

"AMD told me this week that the driver would have to be tuned "for each game".

This is a big reason for why I have not pre-ordered yet.

Yup, especially when they've been struggling with their drivers since last October.

Is anyone seriously prepared to wait a potential 6+ months for a game to be tuned ?.

Its already been said they've cut their drivers team right back to one bloke in his bedroom, how the hell is he going to manage tuning every game, ontop of his Xfire profiles hes struggling to do.

That's pure gold!

Come on AMD, give us some credit :D

And Boom - you keep going man! I've seen so many cherry picked now I'm almost convinced it's a monster!

No, wait, I still think it's a grapefruit :)

cold shower... expected more from AMD this time around, that's why the hype should be the correct amount to the perf you are going deliver.

They'll be "Ready when they're Ready" ;)

I think that is harsh, although if you just look at 1080p they have a point.

This I though was spot on though and covers what I was saying early:

"Limited VRAM for a flagship $649 video card, sub-par gaming performance for the price, and limited display support options with no HDMI 2.0 and no DVI port. To be honest, we aren't entirely sure who the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X is really built for? The AMD Radeon Fury X is a confusing product, like a technology demo not fully realized, a showcase for HBM only but with no real substance. The AMD Radeon Fury X looks to be a great marketing showcase, but its prowess starts waning when you consider its value to gamers and hardware enthusiasts."

He still hasn't got his April Xfire Freesync drivers out yet!

When he got the order about now having to do tuning for every game as well, he probably hung himself! :p

The poor bugger :(
