Attack on Tunisian hotel

This is exactly why I unticked Tunisia when looking for late deals for this summer.

Mind you, who knows where is safe anymore :(

I loved visitng Tunisia back in 2004, guess I won't be going again for a while. Very sad.

Ditto, been twice early 2000's, fantastic location that we talked about returning to this year. Never again, that's for sure. Thanks religion of peace.

Went to Tunisia shortly after the Arab spring, I considered it slightly risky then due to the disturbance but I don't think I would have considered it this year given some of the recent press.

The loss of life is terrible and it's also an incredible shame for all those in the Country who rely on the tourist trade to survive. It's a lovely part of the world.

Tunisia is the one country where the Arab Spring has actually produced a hopeful future. Naturally this makes it a target for the Islamic State and others who have a vested interest against peace, democracy and prosperity.

Or alternatively the draconian government was what was keeping the extremists in their place. Remove the lid and all hell breaks loose.

Probably a mix of both tbh.

We are supposed to be heading to Tunisia in August for a family holiday in Hammamet which is about 100km away. Hope there's no more trouble. :(

Horrible :(

Someone needs to go and round these fowl creatures up, line them up and nail them against the wall.

sorry to hear that, it would have been nice had the Arab spring resolved some of these issues - I mean Tunisia was the first and there was no western intervention needed there, I guess there is still a big need for more cultural change which is going to take a generation at least

my son is currently hiding in some tunisian mans house as they were just on the way back to the hotel (hotel belle vue) when they seen people running from the beach and heard gun fire they started to run and this tunisian guy came out of his house and got them in to hide they are still there now as security forces are making the area safe ffs .
