Next stop on the progressive train is incest, all the same arguments apply and you can call Christians Bible bashers (but don't call Muslims quran bashers yet as that's islamophobia and we use it against oppressors)

Now I understand the girlfriends cryptic message earlier "just ****ing off Christians haha ;)" ...

Disgusting!

Totally alien to human life. Only a man and a woman have the right to be married. Being gay is a warped twisted way of living! Not natural. Totally alien!!

I have bad news for you about those things you do with your sister.

I fully support the right of anyone, irregardless of sexuality, to be just as miserable as their parents.

:D

While I personally don't find the act itself appealing, if two people love each other then it's great that they can really be together in the same way everyone else can. Good luck to them.

clearly isn't 'alien to human life' or else evolution would have gotten rid of it thousands of years ago, there were presumably some useful parts to homosexuality that allowed it to survive - or perhaps there are different shades of grey and not everyone is completely gay or completely straight - either way it seems to be rather natural

on the other hand 'marriage' is a concept we humans have made up and defined ourselves - sometimes between two people sometimes between more than two people - defining it to include two people of the same sex isn't a huge deal - your religion doesn't have a monopoly on 'marriage'

Gay is abnormal. Fact!

So is having white skin. White people are in a minority as far as the global population of humans is concerned. Should white people be allowed to marry?

What does being in a minority, being 'abnormal, FACT!' have to do with whether you can get married or not?

I remember reading a while ago (although i do not remember where) that wayy back (think caveman times) that being homosexual could be positive for the family as it would free you up to look after your sisters / brothers children and not have to worry about your own. Which increased their survival chance and thus survival of the family. Although it could be a load of rubbish :P

yup - mentioned here along with a few other ideas too:

though I'm glad for americans that the court has passed this ruling the right wingers opposing it do seem to have a point IMO - not re: gay marriage itself but simply the ability of the court to make this judgement seemingly being contrary to the 10th amendment of the US constitution which would seem to indicate that this sort of matter is down to the individual states and not for some unelected judges to essentially legislate on

If Christianity had the monopoly on the idea of marriage then they could technically dictate who was allowed to get married or not (and pretend some moral basis for this idea), but unfortunately marriage pre-dates Christianity, so it is actually just a social/cultural ceremony and not a strictly religious one.

Now a societies culture gets to say who gets married or not, not the pixie guy or the people with hats.

Pixies again? Lawdy lawd.

There is a thought. In 5 - 10 years time your boss or one of the project bosses or many in that matter are transgender.

Was that directed at me? It's hard to understand your point. My point was I am going to enjoy the reaction of my idiot, repressed republican colleagues. My views could not be more libertarian.

I have had a colleague and separately a friend have sex changes, not that it is, or was, relevant to the topic.
