Ding Ding. A majority vote by society, get out of your little online world.

I'm sorry but your medieval view is now akin to not giving black people the same rights as whites. Take heed when bringing up children, they'll be persecuted for having old fashioned silly views.

You were on about 'this forum'. I was stating this forum is mostly atheist!

'Old Fashioned' views are not silly. Look where the world is now. Look how low society is these days. Its because 'people' have thrown morals out the window. Anything goes these days and the world is suffering for how evil the world really is. The world is full of filth and hate and war and low morals etc etc.

yet still significantly better in terms of morality than any point in history.

I think that today the world has gone wild. People really dont care about each other that much. Families are splitting up all the time. The world is full of hatred. Yes, this has been happening since the very beginning but i really think that the human race cannot get as low as it is in these times.

The morality of the human race is at an all time low.

So it's not about equality despite giving people equal rights?

And the morality of the human race is at an all time low because it allows two mutually consenting adults to declare their undying love for one another through marriage?

Just brilliant :)

I've explained my reasoning many times before, no sense going it all again as that is not relevant to my point. I wasn't making a value judgement, I was simply stating that this wasn't about equality but about the change of the definition.

I agree, I just want to know why that change of definition bothered you so much, obviously you're not a grammaticist so what is it about the change that bothers you?

As usual you see what you want to see and write what you want because you have blinkers on!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If you're asking why I object to people saying this is an issue of equality, I object because it is not an issue of equality. The 'progressives' frame it as such because the notion of equality is so deeply ingrained in Western culture. Even if there was a rational argument against an issue of equality, you'd be hard pressed to get that past peoples emotional response of 'EQUALITY!!!11'.

I rather imagine that we'll see the same 'equality' argument used to push through legislation legalising other dubious relationships.

Undying love? Bit dramatic.

People seem to bring that up a lot when they talk about same sex marriage. Government shouldn't interfere in such issues, but talking about undying love makes it about feelz which has no place in intelligent decision making.

Quite, but from under your tin foil hat you believe this is a conspiracy of lobbyists and pressure groups only. Do continue, it makes for great reading. What's it like living in koolpc and Thompson_NCL world? It must be a frantically harrowing experience every day.

This just in, a gay relationship is a dubious one!! You see, you're outdated. It must be quite saddening being like that. I understand your frustration.

Do you deny the existence of lobbyists and pressure groups?

No,that is clearly not what I said. are you confused? Just generally I mean, with life, conversation, the outside world? Do you get to meet people, everyday, (not on WoW)? Could you in fact be gay?

I am confused, with this sentence.

Either you are saying there is a conspiracy, but its bigger than lobbyists and pressure groups. Or that pressure groups and lobbyists do not conspire to alter public opinion.

I just wanted to check you knew that pressure groups and lobbyists existed, and part of their purpose is to alter public opinion. Since you acknowledge they exist, I fail to see what your point is.

We don't have gladiator death matches or nail people to bits of wood these days.

Also we seem to have given up (generally) on following these stupid books where they say we should kill people for the clothes they wear.

Why is a gay relationship dubious?

I know. Much worse than that these days!

or it could be referecne to eve being made from adams rib :p

Also an actual event that actually happened. :D

But they had the same rights as me before hand too.

We're talking about the decision in America here, so shall we go with the right to marry the person you love.. The right to see them in an ER.. Participate in a family.. Benefit from the same tax breaks...

Gay couples did not have the same rights before June, particularly not in a lot of states in America.

As usual you see what you want to see and write what you want because you have blinkers on!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

A bible on each side of your face. I thought you'd left? We were on topic a for few posts back there.

In terms of marriage? None. But they had the same rights as me before hand too. Which is precisely my point. We have changed (expanded) the definition of marriage.

How did they have the same rights? You could marry someone who you loved and felt sexually attracted to, they couldn't.

Saying they had the same rights as you because they could marry a straight girl as well is like saying the local library which refuses to install a wheelchair ramp is giving the same rights to disabled people to climb the stairs as everyone else.
