Windows 10

No they won't. Not because they're kind, because they're not completely and utterly stupid. The implications of doing this would be utterly ridiculous and cause significantly more problems than the extra revenue would be worth, so no they just aren't. I have no idea why so many people blindly and stupidly follow that this is what's going to happen.

Don't say I did warns you in 12 months time!

There will never been any subcriptions for Windows 10.

Bulldog147 you are massively mistaken.

i work in the IT industry and have a number of friends who work for Microsoft and they have confirmed there will never be any fees or subs.

I won't. You really need to understand the implications of what you're suggesting. There is going to be millions of computers with Windows 10 on it, if Microsoft decide they need paying, it's then a matter of changing millions of computers from "legal" to "illegal" overnight.

And that's completely ignoring the fact that these copies of Windows 10 will have been paid for indirectly, because you are giving up your copy of Windows 7 or 8 in exchange for Windows 10.

It's a matter of logic, it's simply not going to happen because it would cause untold problems. As I said, Microsoft are not completely dumb.

I hope u are right! I just won't upgrade! Because I don't trust Microsoft.

I don't trust them either, they're a corporation. That doesn't mean you should assume that everything they're going to do is to your detriment though.

Trying to charge people who took the free upgrade after a year is going to be detrimental to Microsoft. They aren't giving this upgrade out to be nice, they're doing it because it makes practical sense to do so with the direction they're moving in. They are doing it to help themselves, it just so happens that a positive side effect of that is that it has a positive result for their customers too.

Do not upgrade to free windows 10 because of Microsoft crafty:

1) You must use Microsoft account to get full features (I don't like this!)
2) Microsoft free upgrade because it put hidden spyware malware adverts on Windows to paying Microsoft of collect all your adverts to companies to adverts you. (get lost! I won't having this!)
3) after 12 months (bang - start to pay subscription via microsoft account) - they won't tell u because it will trigger peoples to cancel upgrade!
4) Security is weakness in Windows Home and Pro. The Enterprise is stronger security but it only for Business with much more features (not sold to home users)

proof? link?

please?;)

I hope it is addressed by the 29th, the pin login must affect certain services for some odd reason.

They've been having a few little issues with PIN, including not being able to login on previous builds.

I expect this is one of the few last problems to resolve...

If it was FREE upgrade so where does Microsoft find the money from? The answer are too much adverts hidden inside Windows 10 that paid to Microsoft when u click every companies websites visit!

Just like Google Ad did.

Nobody knows what Microsoft may or may not do in the future, not even staff. There is no legal reason why Microsoft can not charge monthly for the use of Windows 10, regardless of whether someone has upgraded to it from a bought Windows 7. As long as Microsoft have a way of allowing users who upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 to use the software for a reasonable amount of time without further charge.

Microsoft need a game changer, and charging a license fee on a monthly or annual basis makes good business sense. Windows is perceived by many to be a "must have" and so will be willing to pay. Microsoft know this. It's like how many people pay a small monthly subscription to Netflix, claim it to be an essential part of their life, yet rarely watch anything on it.

Unless the majority of people jump ship to Linux, or an alternative commercial OS comes along, Microsoft are in the money.

No it isn't. You are thinking about increasing revenue too much. Direct money coming in isn't the only way a company can "make" money.

Companies also take actions to reduce expenditure, and as many people being on the same platform will significantly reduce support expenditure.

As I keep saying, they aren't giving it away to be nice, they're doing it to make things easier for themselves.

Will you please accept that these things you're coming out with, are being made up by yourself?

In the EU, it simply isn't going to happen. A reasonable amount of time is not going to be a factor. In the EU, if you buy a piece of software, it's then legally yours to do what you want with it. If MS are upgrading that software to a more recent version, the rules still apply about it being your software to do with what you want.

Microsoft make next to no money on consumer operating systems. To the point it's just easier to give it us Free rather than fight the piracy, which never works.

They will get the, little, money back from the app store. Especially with a single unified app system.

I might ditch Windows 10 to go for Linux Mint 17.2 instead. I just had enough of Microsoft more controlled things, some features u can't have it, some features can have it with enterprise. The adverts just put me off under free windows 10. I just hate the apps in stores. I wish they just removed it off!
