Anyone here running that setup? I hear a lot of people saying it is but there still games that can't hold a locked 1080p60 with a 980ti right?
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
I have one, but I'm running 1080p@120Hz.
GTAV with the advanced options turned up I average around 60-90fps depending on the area and what's going on, so there's a fair amount of wiggle room. I wouldn't consider buying a 980Ti a waste for 1080p.
a lot of games get maxed out at 120fps @ 1080 for me with the gpu at like 50% usage so it barely gets above 55c lol
don't forget nvidia has DSR
you can game at 4k res downsampled by the gpu to 1920x1080

My max res is 1920x1080
My max hz is 144
The joys of DSR

How often do you downsample? Do you basically always use at least 1440p?
