*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

Back in the day you bought a no1 pc game for like £30 max, and all expansions, updates were free, even years after, now they release a game and just charge you for dlc that years back was part of the game anyway.

Expansions were never free back in the day - they didn't cost a full game unless they pretty much were a full add on to the main game.

Map packs were made my modders and thrown out for people for free - devs found they could do that; tested by charging and thus dlc was born.

Right or wrong - but seriously every expansion in the past was always paid. Map packs? were done my modders; I know that some studies would actually grab some modder's maps and give them credit by throwing them into a game pack.

Revisionist of the past is just that.....

How come it's so cheap? I take it as a game it's pants?

It's a good fighter. If you don't like "Street Fighter" type games then you probably won't like this. The Story is supposedly around 5 hours long and is well acted and interesting.

Not impressed with the graphics considering they're supposed to be "Next Gen" however. Still good, but I've been playing Batman Arkham Knight, which puts this to shame.

Defo worth £7 though.

P.S. The Predator is awesome!

are the only 2 places to buy Elite:dangerous there website and steam? i missed the steam sale but don't want to pay 40 :(

Kinguin have it for £34.91 which is a bit cheaper.
Been reading the Elite thread about it and I am not sure whether I would like it and its too much to take a risk on. Maybe if it was £20.
I'd only play with mouse/keyboard too.

Same here, I've been hovering over the buy button for Elite for weeks. Loved the original games but this seems shallow according to some fan reviews. Plus when No Mans Sky comes out will Elite just get tossed by the wayside?

I'm enjoying it but at the moment anyway it's quite limited, although completely open world. There needs to be a bit of direction at times. It's fun, but I don't play it every night, or if I do only for an hour or so.

I loved the original too (and Frontier) and the new Elite: Dangerous is basically the original games with a lot more exploration potential and great graphics. You have to make your own entertainment and find your niche.

But the urge to actually being able to 'do something' can be off-putting at the start.

I personally think it's worth the gamble at £26, but it does have steep learning curve.

I must admit I've not played it for the last 2 weeks. But it's THE game I'll buy a Rift/Vive for...

As beautiful as it is, I think no man's sky will end up being the same as elite, with the major difference of planetary exploration. I don't hold out much hope for they're being any real meaning to what you do.

Star citizen on the other hand, is a game I think will definitely blow elite away.
