Hello. I just purchased Inno3D GeForce GTX 980 Ti iChill X3 Ultra. I've noticed that whenever I start or exit a game, I can hear a slight ticking noise, almost similar to a hard drive or disc drive click but softer.
But it seems to go away during gameplay. Just a tick... tick... tick... . It only happens when I first launch a game or close a game for about 30 - 60 seconds.
Its sounds like this:

No there is not any wires hitting.
RMA card then ?

I bought the same card from OCUK mine is flawless but I had to swap my PSU it needs a really strong PSU so perhaps the noise is related to your PSU not being good enough.

This GPU draws a lot of power as the overclock is so extreme!

Is there still stickers on the fans, the big middle one and the small one on the top both have protective film on them which requires peeling. That video was of an Air Boss Ultra X4. which I have just bought and received today. :D

I left stress for overnight. Nothing helps. I can heard ticking nosie still during change of fan speed. ( like starting games or quitting games ). I dont know what to do now. Change card to another example or its normal? It just tick...tick..tick noise.

My psu is corsair 750 RM. On my previous reference 980 ti i dont had that ticking noise.

Could it be just the fans starting up? My Zotac clicks a bit when temps hover 60 degrees (which is when they kick in, so they start and stop continuously).

That sound quite an extreme fan curve you have on there. The Ultra boss cooler is very good. My 980 (same cooler) never gets over 41% even with a huge OC

Do you have a custom fan setting??

Could be one of those issues where its only apparent at a certain fan speed that might flex the blades slightly to make contact with the heatsink. So turning the pc off and turning the fans using your fingers probably won't replicate it.

Try slowly upping your fan speed up manually and see where it starts to tick i am in the same mindset that when it hits a certain speed the blade flex and cause the issue if that is the case rma it.

What you are hearing is coil whine. Sometimes it's high pitched and like my last EVGA card it actually sounds like a ticking noise. It will only happen when you GPU is under load so when a game starts. At idle on the desktop you will not hear it.

RMA it if you can hear it over your case fans and state it is coil whine.

It doesnt sound like coil whine.
I can hear a slight ticking noise when fan speed is changing, almost similar to a hard drive or disc drive click but softer.
But it seems to go away during gameplay. Just a tick... tick... tick...during fan speed changing. I dont know that change card to another example or stay with it?

Somebody here with the same card and same issue? During gaming is ok, no ticking. But when fan speed is changing i can heard a ticking noise . I've noticed that whenever I start or exit a game i can hear that ticking from a card. Today i must decide to change card to another example or not. Help me guys. Thx

Have you tried cutting the blue wire? :P

But seriously if it is not a sticker still on or the fan catching the edge of the plastic i would just rma as its better for them to check.
