Staying in a beautiful apartment complex in Alcudia and just entering our second week. There's a pool here with about 60 sunloungers but the problem is people are getting up at 07:00 and putting towels down on the loungers and not coming back for hours.
My rule of thumb is if I see an empty lounger I'll give it 20 minutes or so and after that if no one's lying there I fold the towel up, put it to one side and then claim the lounger as my own.
Thing is the wife's going nuts with me. 2015 and people still think a towel makes it their sunlounger and it's the British that are doing it, not ze German's.
Rant over, lol. Gotta go, off to the beach...

Brits are worse on holiday. Moving sun beds into silly places, getting on them at silly o'clock (I must admit that I do this, but you pretty much have no choice when everyone else are doing it and at least I stay on the sunbed), taking over the pool, bringing their own music blaring out by the pool side, having loud parties in their room. I generally try to avoid Brits on holiday tbh.

Unless the lounger is being reserved by Thor's hammer (other immovable objects are available) I'm not going to consider it reserved if I don't see anyone get on it after 30 minutes.

Brits been taking lessons from zee Germans. You need to be down by the pool before six to claim your spot. Better still slip a few euros to the beach/pool man and he'll save you a spot. Best go where you don't get any Brits or Germans. :p

Or Russians...a couple of old Russian ladies sat on OUR towels (well, hotel towels) whilst we went for lunch for 30mins in Tenerife last year.

This, I tipped a cleaner £10 for a week, he would come in at 0530 for work, grab our towels from the balcony and put them in the same place, by the end of the week I think he was working for about 5 different family's.

Good little side earner for him and meant I got get a lay in everyday and enjoy my breakfast.

I don't think I have ever had to reserve a sun bed, then again I don't travel during high season when the common folk and their spawn are travelling. I'm far too high class.

If anyone needs me I'll be over here, polishing my top hat.

In all seriousness though, when I was travelling during the school holidays (mainly as a teenager with parents) I found that the pool was always rammed, a combination of larger numbers of people and the propensity of families with kids to lounge by the pool more regularly during the day. Until I have kids September and May/June for the win.

what utter BS! High season = common folk and you are saying that anybody with children are not high class.

My wife and I have a 12 year old child, and my wife is a school teacher, so we have no option other than going on holiday during high season (school holidays) but of course that makes us a low class family. :(

Get a ******* grip sun-shine!

Always baffles me how people go somewhere nice like Alcudia and spend their time at the hotel / complex pool . Go to the beach & see the place you paid to get to?
