Why can horses just **** everywhere?

So they can afford a horse, but they can't afford to buy a horse box? That's sounds like BS, no offence...

from experience not BS at all. a lot dont own their own horse, rather share or loan.

Or you could remove spookable animals from an environment that is inappropriate for them. Its like waking your dog on the motorway and expecting everyone to do 5mph so not to upset little ruffles.

walk up behind anyone with no warning and make a noise, see if they jump ;)

Correct, although I'm lucky to own my one - but don't assume that's because I'm rich. Quite the opposite, lol! The same goes for nearly all of the people at the stables where I keep him; is an urban myth that all horse owners are posh, rich, hunting tories.

This, basically... I think it is stupid to ride a horse on a road unless it is for a very short distance to move from bridleway to bridleway or something.

I do like horses, and I have ridden horses, but they don't belong on the road...

My bike makes a significant 'pop' every now and then on low rpms, I can't help that. It is road legal, as I have the paper from MOT to confirm that :D

I guess as an English insurgent in Wales growing up I've become tolerant as many country lanes and B roads are two inches thick in sheep/cow faeces and when it rains you can bet your chances your car will be a different shade of colour.

But I've always said if you're into the country and horses, then sod off to the country with your horses. But you would be surprised amount of the hate horse riders get here from drivers who live and breath the country and even farmers I've seen a few times yet these are the idiots who drive their tractors to town on an A road. Must be the air up here! :D

What really drives it home is when you get snooty *******s with a sense of entitlement. By all means rev your engine to those ****ers.

indeed, an all too common misconception.

as i said earlier, the authorities seem to be revoking and/or not maintaining more and more off road ROW around here. unfortunately sometimes using the road is inevitable.

I thought that it wasn't illegal. Got anything to back that up?

Nope. Talking complete crap it seems! I must have read something a while ago about how it could be considered littering but can't find it for the life of me.
Ah well.

Horse plop is basically just grass/hayledge and not harmful to health like dog poop is.
I can sympathise with it being unfriendly to bikers though. But as mr .satan has explained, it's just not practical for the rider to pick it up, sadly.

Should horses be on the road? Probably not, but chances are (unless they're stupid) the rider's riding a short distance to a public bridleway/private bit of land they're allowed to ride on.

Horses should probably ride on the verge (if there is one) but then the horse will probably
a) stop to eat the hedge every 2 feet
b) trip on something hidden in the foliage/a hole
c) be more likely to spook at something like a bird in the hedge

Most horsey riders I know don't have a licence that allows them to tow a horsebox and don't seem particularly keen on doing the test that would allow them to do so. I don't know why this is, nor how much it costs. Horses are expensive, even if they have their own land to keep them on.

I don't get why people have horses, they're silly easily-frightened, unpredictable, flight animals...

But I still would like to ride one.

My Granddad used to take a wheelbarrow and shovel out and come back with loads of the **** for his garden. I always remember his Mk.I Escort van smelling of horse****.
