Windows 10

Windows 10 is now activated for me. Created an ISO for 8.1 my key worked and then said windows 10 is now available.

Its all downloaded and sorted. WOOO ha

Had a few more attempts at solving 0xC1900101-0x40017 on second boot but without success. Might have one more attempt with a cold boot.

So presumably I'm faced with doing a clean install but that would require a new product key?

I googled that error code, do you have Avast installed? If so then you need to uninstalled it to fixed the issue.

Anyone know why CCleaner wont clean Microsoft Edge - Internet Cache, History and Cookies? All it does is say 'skipped'

Where does it say skipped, at the details screen at the end? I sometimes get the prompt saying the Edge cache database needs to be closed to clean cookies, have you had that?

I got fed up waiting for the Windows 10 upgrade to start by itself.
Downloaded the ISO and used that instead.

I wanted to do an upgrade keeping all my apps and settings, no clean install for this PC as it would take an age to setup again.

Insurance
I used acronis to clone the boot drive to a spare HD just in case it all turned to brown runny stuff.

I extracted the files from the ISO to a folder on my d drive and started the setup from that.
Told it to keep my apps and settings and let it do it's thing.

All went smoothly but was taking a while so I fell asleep.
Woke up to find it finished and just a couple of prompts left to answer.
I chose custom not express and ran through turning things on/off and chose the apps, edge etc.

My accounts were still intact and I logged in as normal.
So far only thing I felt an immediate need to do was find iexplorer and drag it to the task bar.
Edge didn't have my favourites and I need those !!
Might do an export of the favourites some time.

I didn't at any time enter a key.
If it prompted for one when it was unattended I don't know, but the install finished without me entering one.

Shows as activated so no problem there.

All in all went very smoothly.

I uninstalled CCleaner and it asked to close Edge down. I must have clicked 'No' first time but its working now.

On the registry cleaner part though there are two files that keep coming back: -

InProcServer32\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ConnectedStorageService.ProxyStub.dll
InProcServer32\C:\Windows\System32\ConnectedStorageService.ProxyStub.dll

Really strange on my laptop the reboot time is over a minute in total but the cold boot is around 10 seconds, wouldn't think a reboot would take that much longer. My main rig with an SSD is around the same for both.

I have not had any issues doing the upgrade to W10.

I have 2 x PC's running W7 and W7 pro, a lanovo netbook using W8.1 with bing and 2 x laptops (one running W7 and the other on 8.1).

started them all off manually using the ISO I downloaded from the Microsoft site and all in all its gone really well.

no issues with anything after doing the upgrade, main PC I done a clean install once successfully upgraded and again no issues

In Edge just go to favourites and there is an "import favourites" link at the top. From there you can just pull in all your Internet Explorer favourites.

Thanks I have seen that now.

Need to run through the work web apps and see if they play nice with edge.
Boring corporate stuff which gets upset with browser revisions.

Upgraded via USB yesterday as i was getting the dreaded 'win10 failed to update'. Absolutely flawless install, i was going to upgrade then do a clean but its running so nicely that i dont think i'll bother. Didnt think you could get much snappier than win8.1 on an ssd but win10 is quicker still, very nice :)

Upgraded last night and cannot install my graphics card driver. GTX570.

Nvidia installer keeps failing and doing it via Windows Update just keeps timing out.

Keep losing my second monitor most of the time and it's running at 1024x768 but after every other restart it seems to come back on at full 1920 res.
