Windows 10

Does anyone know if there is a way to clone desktops in the taskview? Basically an example is I want two desktops but want an application that I have open available in both.

I guess that kind of defeats the object in a way but its more for ease of use.

Can I just confirm something about the Win 8.1 Pro keys being swapped to Win 10 keys.

Got my upgrade yesterday, all went fine, then did a fresh install with the Win 10 iso from the MS media creation tool.

When you enter the Win 8.1 key it states its not recognised, however, if you skip all the key entries, when Windows activates it goes through fine without the key. I guess the 8 key is swapped at upgrade time and then linked back to hardware ID's?

Its a perfectly logical design direction. Have you tried using a pre Windows 10 Calculatior app on a small touch screen device?

Just because it doesn't fit with YOUR opinion, doesn't make it a flawed design.

You have a point.

However, I feel it would be worth the option to switch back to 'older' designs if that is your thing.

it tags the key\hardware so when the PC is online with W10 it activates without a key.

I went from W7 to W10 upgrade and then formatted and done a clean install with W10. through install it asked twice for the product key but my w7 one didn't work but still activated when it had internet access

you cant use the original key used to install on to another system as they key can only be used on one system at a time

Thanks for the confirmation.

just been playing with VB Script to pull the productkey out of Win 10 registry so I can see my key has changed and I have made a note of it for next time :)

And there is the major flaw with the design, what works on one platform doesn't work as well on another. The Windows Phone calculator may work well on phones (it does, it also looks 100x better with the WP white text on black background colour scheme) but it's horrible on a computer and inferior to what we had.

It's the same story with the W7/8 picture viewer and the W10 app (luckily the W7/8 one can also be resurrected in W10 with a reg edit).

The worrying thing here is that in both cases Windows 8 provided both options, this is something that W8 got right multiple times and W10 got wrong multiple times, not a good way to start.

Why do that when you can just download an addon to reinstall the W7/8 one?

You can do that as well,my point was it's easy enough to change for free if you don't like the default calculator.

You can resize the new calculator back to the same size as the old ones.

As always around here, the effort put into having a massive rant about something seems to take priority over putting any effort into seeing if there's a solution :p

Aww I was hoping that by running a full screen game in a seperate desktop I would still be able to switch between other desktops. This didn't work at all and instead it forced the game to run on desktop 1 even though steam was open in desktop 2. You also cannot switch between desktops with it running full screen.

I guess that's what Windowed mode is for?

Installed and very happy with it so far. Had some issues with Intel Rapid storage and had to reinstall after enabling write back cache as it managed to corrupt everything.

I expect it's more to do with driver updates and a reinstall than anything else however performance with Radeon 290s seems to be much better. Witcher 3, GTA5, Dragon Age and Project cars so far all seem to be much smoother.

They should all go back on DOS 6.22 for a few years, maybe then will appreciate the ease of Windows 10 ;) .

Nope

Defender was once pants..it's now excellent after MS got their finger out...alongside malwarebytes it's perfect.

Btw malwarebytes is amazing

Thanks. I do have Malwarebytes but its the free version.

So, i should uninstall bitdefender?

Yep..

Download malwarebytes along side for a robust excellent solution..

I'm doing that and I know my ****

Well I have installed malware bytes so I'm actually doing the same anyway lol!

That's what I will stick to then for now and wait to see how Windows Defender performs based on reviews etc in the coming months.

It's just annoying you can't schedule scans on the free version of MB :(
