Windows 10

Well thank god for dual BIOS because messing with Fast Boot options toasted 1 of the BIOS on my board :). Perhaps clearing the CMOS will reset it to default, however the clear COMS button on the back of the motherboard does nothing.

Do the Windows 8 BIOS options also apply to Windows 10? I would have thought so.

I would have thought the OS has nothing to do with the BIOS and its settings?

Windows10 is just as much of a nightmare to get into safe mode as 8 from boot though before going into the OS lol

For those waiting for the files to be delivered to the PC to do the upgrade to be honest why wait? Why not do this:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

This works perfectly well. Obviously you need to upgrade 'then' do a fresh install if you want.

Also, i am sure that a lot of these 'bugs' that people mention will be ironed out with updates. MS must know about these different issues that people are having. It is a pain when things don't go smoothly i know. Can MS ever make an OS that works for everyone straight out of the box?

That did not work for me. It asks for a windows 10 key.

I upgraded and then wiped

My install failed again :(

Can I use the above to do a fresh install or is and upgrade and then fresh install the only way?

Losing hope

Rite done 4 pc's now with 1 left to do
10 year old laptop - upgraded a clean install of 7 the lap works great apart from a bug with edge if I open it it will just close after a few seconds but I can work round that as I wasn't going to use that anyhow.

3 Year laptop - another upgrade this was my main lap I use for browsing and email both transferred over fine everything works but I think it could do with a clean install as it hasn't improved on 8.1 which would use the hard drive a lot at start up so might do that in the coming week.

Media pc - another upgrade and the install was pretty clean windows 7 with just media player classic and chrome both are working and windows 10 seems to adjust the size of icons to the screen because there a lot bigger then 7's was on my 40" TV.

My Gaming Pc - Clean install of window 10 pro all installed fine was only 2 things that didn't install that I had to get windows 8.1 driver for.
Sound blaster z and a capture device.
Havn't had time to game yet as there was a lot of data to be moved around but shall be testing today.

i'm on X99 yes I did have to install the intel chipset drivers I forgot all about that :) after I did that everything was after a reset

If there are windows 8 or 8.1 drivers you can use them the drivers don't have to be 10 its just better to have 10 ones

Not sure whether it's Windows 10 or the new AMD drivers that made this change but since upgrading i've noticed that when running Kodi with more than one screen (monitor and TV) it no longer messes with the refresh rate on the screen Kodi isn't on. It used to blank and change the refresh rate on the monitor when you started and stopped things on the TV, now the monitor isn't touched. It was never a big deal before but it's nice not to have that anymore :)

Don't even need to make the USB, just download the media creation and run it and upgrade from within Windows itself.

Done that on 3 PC's so far no issue.

maybe but microsofts server are being hammered by ppl upgrading so connection might fail if its all on a usb to which you can download an iso on this forum and use rufus to make the usb its quicker and easier also the media creation tool is dam slow only takes me 2mins to down the iso on the forum and a few more min's to make a usb

Well I got there in the end, had to set 3 x services to auto to stop the Safe_ message

Will do the fresh install this week if I can be bothered

Loving the look and feel though :)

Even on my 3.6 Q6600 think the ssd helps massively
