I called my GP today to get my blood test results and she said they were normal and my blood count was good. I asked her if I can have a print out, she asked me if I were a medical professional otherwise I wouldn't understand the results (I do). I have to call back at 4:30, she's going to talk to the doc.

Is this the same with all GPs? What can I say to get them?

Well there is no reason you cannot have them, but its probably not a common request is all. also as she says, without understanding the terminology and abbreviations it may not make much sense to you. Or worse, make you paranoid.

Why DO you want them?

Sounds like a typical receptionist, I'm sure the doctor doesn't give a stuff if you have a copy of your own test results, if he does object you can always send them an FOI request and get all of your notes.

Just wanna see them with my own eyes and I need them for reference. Also to show I'm healthy as **** not eating meat, eggs and dairy. :p

Yeah she was nice but I had to nearly beg for the results! I even said I will pay the printing cost.

First off I'd have been rather peed off being spoken to like a child with the assumption that I wouldn't know what I was looking at, secondly yes they form part of your medical records so one way or another you are legally entitled to a copy which means if worst comes to worst you can make a request for them under the Freedom of information act.

Haha yeah I was going to say that, felt like a child, she talks like Gail from coronation street :(

Ah yeah FOI, cheers guys! Will update thread at 4:30 hehe.

^HAHAHAHA, trollers!¬ I've eaten soo many bananas, dates, mangos and potatoes this summer so potassium better be over level 9999 or I'll have to start buying potassium supplements

No. This is not disclosable under freedom of information act. It is however, available with a subject access request under the data protection act.
