Nostalgia (Commodore 64)

Did you know there was a commodore 64 cartridge based console too in the 90's ? I had one loved flimbos quest.
I started on a zx81 at school that's where the computer bug bit me, then I got a spectrum 48k the rest was history.

It was called the Commodore GS (Games Station) and was, as other people have said, completely pointless.

Also the Expert Cartridge wasn't a patch on the Action Replay Mk VI. Fantastic piece of kit!

I love the C64 and still have one now. It is a fantastic machine with so many fantastic games it would take an hour to list them all out.

Kids these days don't know how good they've got it ;)

I still fire up the occasional SID soundtrack, to bring back good memories...

A man after my own heart ... Rob Hubbard was the man

As for the pricing I can't really remember but when they were first released they never came with a cassette player which you needed (ideally) and I am sure that was £50 on it's own.
You couldn't use just any either like the Speccy because of the plugs / interface thingy.

Actually the more I think about it with the cassette player it did come to £400 ... A lot of money in them days considering 3 million unemployed and all that.

Yes, the reason the Spectrum was such a big success was the price. The 48K version was £175 at launch before coming down to £129. It was less than half the price of the C64 or the BBC Micro.

Ah some great memories there! I started with the Commodore 16 then went speccy 48k before saving enough paper round money for a C64. The C64 was far closer to the arcade machines of the time, especially the colors and sound. I remember copying games tape to tape with friends and then eventually upgrading to the disc drive, which was like the future!

Overclocked it yet 5UB? :D

Sorry for your loss, thanks for the pics, I really wanted one as a kid and my dad got me the much much lesser known Oric 48k instead and i was gutted :)
