So i got a new laptop and want to stick another 4gb of ram in as it says it will take upto 8gb.. apparently there preinstalled ram is soldered in.

How do i match the ram to another 4gb? just by timings and mz? its currently 11.11.11.28 1600Mz

Didin't realise they soldered ram lol. I believe there should be a sticker on the ram with timings etc (there is on mine) then take a peak on OCUK for prices etc.... Crucial[/url]

Soldered RAM, really?! What type of laptop do you have, out of interest? If you go onto the Crucial website, they have a handy tool which detects you RAM and suggests the best type that you'll need to purchase.

Usually if the ram is solderd in then usually your stuck with that amount.

As others have mentioned what laptop are you using?

i have an Asus X555LA its only the i3 model (cheap upgrade for the mrs).. rams its not removable.. but theres an expantion slot to take upto 8GB of ram.. Ive ordered a 4GB stick so will see if it works.
