I want to play witcher 3 in 4k :(

Thats your perception, which is fair enough, some find AA blurs the image, but each to their own. Some will find 8xMSSA insane at 2160p but if you have the hardware, why not.

AA definitely takes away some crispness at 4K. I agree with that. Turning it on just drops the fps for me and no other improvement. People who have for some reason invested in 4x Titan X setups better wait for 120/144 hz 4K panels to justify their investment. AA at 4K is not an excuse

If people want to use AA @2160p that is their choice and as you have admitted it does make a difference.

What fps do you get in Crysis 3 @2160p and what settings with a pair of GTX 980s ?

Witcher 3 GPU performance past 2 cards is disgusting. Two 980Ti or TX, which ever you can stretch to.

I don't think MSAA or heavy PP effects are necessary at 4K either. FXAA is normally more than ample, but if the headroom is there there is no harm in using multi sampling.

haha. I think I said quite opposite that AA reduces the overall sharpness at 4K. Dont take me wrong, I don't want to deny subtle benefits of AA@4K but I cannot notice it. But anyways we all perceive things differently. As said before if you have the horsepower to keep it on and feel that it adds something to your experience then why not :)

Crysis 3 everything on ULTRA, no AA. between 45-60 fps depending upon the scene. Mostly above 50 fps.

I think you have just made my point for me about using a pair of GTX 980 Ti cards.

i have no problem with that. :)

my only argument was against the use of AA specially for people who are on budget but want to enjoy 4K.

On a side note, I see you have taken a lot of initiative in starting many benchmark threads. well done for that. Watch out for my scores when I post them with my 980's on water. You may want to reserve slot for them quite high up in the table. :p

4K isn't for everyone, 1080/1440 peasants need not apply, you want 4K and nice FPS as already said you'll have to get your wallet out. No part of your current system will be setup for running 4k you'll have to start from scratch.

G-sync is a massive help as well, takes the worry away from constantly looking at the top corner of your screen rather than the game your trying to play, as long as you have 35fps+ everything else feels like 60.

I'd just like to play Witcher 3 or Crysis 3 on ultra settings at 1080p lol. I'm one of the peasants!

Will a single 980 max out Crysis 3 @ 1080p or does it need something stronger?

You will really have to get your wallet out. I have been upgrading bits on my gaming rig for the last two years with the intention of going 4K at some point and now have made the move and I have say it is the best upgrade I have made in a long time I will never go back again to lower res screens.

I had issues with Gsync and SLI. Terrible flickering. Not sure if they have fixed it now.

this may be linked to drivers and the game in question being buggy itself. what game you are talking about?

I had it in multiple games but it was usually just the menus and loading screens, not the game itself. It was like I was drunk..

Witcher 3 was the worst though it was literally unplayable. I don't know if you've ever come home drunk and tried to game but that's what it was like. It wasn't stutter because the FPS seemed quite normal it just flickered to the point of making me want to hurl.

I dont have a g-sync monitor but I do use SLI. I do not experience any flickering; neither on menus nor in game.

Didn't read whole post but word of advice. Don't bother getting crossfire or amd for that matter. The Witcher has been one of my favourite games for years and it runs like a dog on crossfire. First there was the flickering issue, now there is a stuttering issue. I'm running this game on my 4k tv at 30hz and struggling to get a constant 30fps (290 xfire). Even if I put to 1440p it's a stuttering unplayable mess.

You're in the minority then. I did get the flickering issue on release but there's no stuttering o.O It's a good experience playing Witcher 3 at 4k for me, and I certainly don't struggle for 30 - most of the time I clear 60 and that's with everything but AA on ultra (and one of the vegetation viewing options, can't recall which).

Runs great for me at 4k
