Hi All,

plan to build a new pc and buy parts slowly. I want a case that will be quiet and also keep components cool. any suggestions? not very techy. I see ATX Cases, Midi Tower, Full Tower, Cubes. what will be best.

PC I plan to build will be for gaming

Hard to say without an idea of budget and system specs. If only single gpu you could go with mATX instead of full tower case. Personally, I'd point you to Phanteks evolve range which are selling like hotcakes right now. Also, whenever someone says quiet, I think of Fractal Design Define R5... couple of starters for you!

I don't know what kind of answer you're expecting.

I want a case that will be quiet and also keep components cool.

This is what pretty much everyone is looking for. Rather than ask on here, your best bet is to go to YouTube and watch case reviews from channels like Linus Tech Tips and HardwareCanucks. Search any case and you can bet on both of those channels having a great review.

If you want a quiet case, take a look at the BeQuiet! Base 800. Or just look at OverclockerUK's entire section of noise-dampening, both pre-dampened cases and dampening kits for existing cases.

Cooling relies almost entirely on your cooling components. I recommend both BeQuiet! and Noctua for quiet CPU air coolers. Or buy a water cooler (like an H100i) and get quiet fans (again BeQuiet! or Noctua are good for this). Again, just look up reviews on YouTube for "quiet pc cooler".

I'd avoid mini-ITX cases, just because it's more difficult to build a quiet system, and harder to get coolers to fit inside. You probably want a midi or small tower. I like micro-atx personally, but again, just watch some reviews and buy the case you think looks best. Then buy the cooling components that the reviewers say are effective and quiet; they'll almost definitely be BeQuiet! or Noctua.

tl;dr: get a BeQuiet! Base 800 unless you're in the "it looks like crap" camp, in which case buy one of these.

Honestly Every case can be quiet. In idle you don't need case fans spinning, so a controller will just keep them off (or simply via software), you just need the right ones as some buzz when aren't spinning.

I'm saying this because going from a Define R4 to a Luxe, I was scared I'd be annoyed by the noise, but nothing really changed.
I would go for Luxe or the new Evolve ATX. Also love the Node 804, just wish it was ATX.

The £53 Phanteks Enthoo Pro M has the same chassis as the evolv minus the metal top and hinged door and front.Depends how much you want to spend and whether style finish ie not much plastics etc are important.

For me the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M seems the best budget case around at the moment huge 192mm cpu height clearance and still a huge gap behind the motherboard tray.
