Seven dead after Hawker Hunter hits cars

That's going to be a hell of a guilt on the pilots shoulders if he comes out of hospital on this one.

Wouldnt want to be that man

, too low at start point or too slow and he stalls out a bit at the top which is why he comes off line and hits the ground.

A Former Hawker Hunter stunt pilot on TV just said he thought the manoeuvre looked good starting off and when reaching the apex , think ill go with his opinion :)

Ha, well yes, but still an opinion, just one based on more knowledge of the aircraft, for all we know the pilot sneezed at the apex and backed off the stick a bit more.... ;)

Depends. If it was a mechanical problem then how can he be to blame. Ok, he will be devastated but it would have been something out of his hands. Obviously very different if it was pilot error.

yes its disappointing you don't understand the level of maintenance that goes into any aircraft , old and new.

for each hour a typhoon is in the air , they spend 5 hours on maintenance ; and the C-17 requires 20 man hours for each hour of flight.

you honestly think with a low numbers type they will skimp on it? not a chance - if anything they will spend MORE on maintaining an old ,aircraft than an old car.

Where did you get these numbers from ?

He said display pilots only ever utilized about 50-60% of what they planes are really capable of, he never said it outright but reading between the lines I don't think he feels it was pilot error but maybe that's just a natural thing for him not wanting to blame another display pilot

Maybe not a sneeze but its possible the pilot had some sort of short blackout during the display

I'm sure you know more than the US Airforce about , well , their own aircraft.

So it's taking into account its maintenance lifetime which is what I was asking. No need for the sarky remark really was there ?

I was asking out of interest I do not have experience with C-17 but do with other A/C so was interested to see the difference in maintenance requirements.

But hey thanks......

Not so much his fault but more the organisers/air shows fault!
Airshows/stunts should NEVER be performed in areas that place the public in direct danger in the (admittedly rare) case's something like this occurs.
Stunts/shows should only be performed over sea or areas that are 100% clear of civilians so that if an accident occurs the only people that sadly die are the pilots who to be fair except the dangers when they climb into the cockpit.

Very tragic event that could have been avoided or at the very least minimised had the show been better organised and the stunts/flight paths been performed in designated 'safe zones'.

96 people died at a football match with over 700 injured.

should be banned as well?
