Anyone used them for standard car insurance?
Coming up by far the cheapest.

Just want some reassurance before I click the button!

They're fine then? :p

Thanks. I thought they were but they were noticeably cheaper so too good to be true starts going through my mind!

When I was younger I crashed into someone who was insured with Hastings Direct. They're fine, that was in 1998 so they've been around for ages.

My renewal quotes with Hastings was significantly higher than last years premiums for both cars, so I did another run on the comparison sites and they still came out on top, significantly cheaper than last years premiums :p

So I rang customer service and quoted my online prices, to which the operator said "Oh, we should be able to match that"....well, I should think so, it's your damn quote! :D

Had the same experience when I renewed with them this year, although actually not sure if it went up or if I just decided I hadn't tried the comparison sites for a few years. Interestingly a couple of others (Admiral and Elephant I think) were cheaper for me, but Hastings more or less matched it when I called up so I stayed.

Otherwise, luckily all I've had them do is take money off every year, they've done that no problem.

My fiancé has had to claim on a fault accident however and they handled it swiftly, got her booked in at a local body shop and gave a courtesy car pretty much immediately. Don't think her premiums went up much after.

Best time to call is during the day during the week, on the few times I've done that I got through pretty much immediately. Friendly english call centre too.

I've used them for my bike insurance for the last four years and like any insurance company the true test is when you have an accident. Fortunately I've not had to do this and the above post gives me a little confidence but at the end if the day they're an insurance company and I'm sure they'll wriggle like mad to get out of any financial outlay if they can.

I shall renew with them this year unless their renewal price is stupid.

They seem quite good, I have been with them several years. When the renewal was dearer, I went online and got a cheaper quote from them by adding my retired father and called them and th.y even gave a partial refund by cheque for the remainder of the current year!

They are, don't forget, they have been around for ages. I've been with them for two years now, had no issues but then again, I've never had to deal with them apart from my renewal.
