A friend, religion, and what to do?

Am I best off just leaving him to it, as it's his own life and choices?

If he's respecting and not going to push his beliefs on you, i would do the same back. Respect one another and their choices.

Though i would be interested in the reasons behind the change.

i must admit some of my mates prayer group were incredible hot women.

One of my other mates persevered on one really hot one. Took him ages to bed her and then she would only do everything except intercourse.

Leave him to it dude. Unless he's giving all his money away or something, then maybe say something, but if he's only going to church, giving a reasonable tithe, and reading the bible, I don't see the problem.

It's his choice and so leave it to him and don't interfere. You never know, he might even convert you one day. :D

Leave him to it, otherwise you risk your friendship. Some rather deluded comments in here, people really think they know it all :p

He did. He grew a beard and started wearing sandals. Every time i went to see him he would be reading the bible.

We grew apart really as we then had completely different interests and hobbies etc.

I am afraid of this, to a certain extent. But I'm typically quite passive in my nature, so I'd probably just end up letting him go down that route.

Leave it. If he wants to come out of it eventually, he will.

My best mate found religion a few years back, went to church every sunday, had a bible with him most of the time, a small crucifix above his bed. It kind of annoyed me deep down because I was atheist and I felt like I was losing him to something I really didn't like.

We stayed friends however, and after a few years of god bothering, he came out of it and is back to being an atheist now. I think the whole reason he want down that path was due to a girlfriend at the time.

I could at least understand it if it was woman-related! :p

Was in his car and he noticed a young lady he'd had his eye on for a while, and there was a slight religion joke came out - relating to sex before marriage being forbidden. I did make light of it - but doesn't that really only apply to Catholics? (And surely, baptised/confirmed ones at that?)

The only time I would get involved and try and change their mind would be if it was a religious cult he was involved in such as Jehovah’s Witnesses.

If its a mainstream church then leave him to it.

OP, depending on how old your friend is, this sounds like born-again Christianity to me. They're the WORST of the worst I'm afraid... very strict and fundamentalist. Had a couple of them at my old work and one of them was my boss. He thought he could use his managerial powers to constantly attempt the conversion card on me. This became daily, and when I filed a grievance, the MD didn't do anything about it because he was a Christian too. In the end, I took it into my own hands - set them up, and one of born-agains ended up resigning and the other born-again got the chop soon after.

Same. Things like JWs, the Brethren etc would be the only reason I'd attempt to intervene.

I went for a job interview somewhere where they were very religious and would employ somebody who was equally religious (they said they had prayers every morning before everybody started work)

I thought about lying just to get the job but realised I wouldnt be able to stand working there.
