Hi, im looking to get a new card, but cant make my mind up on these 2, i can get these 2 at the same price, im heading towards the Zotac NVIDIA GTX 980Ti AMP Extreme , with its higher GPU and Memory clocks, i know could overclock,

i have looked at reviews of both, zotac seems less noisy at load, i like the fact both the fans turn off when in standby

Thanks

Gigabyte card seems plagued with coil whine issues, seen so many posts about it being irritating. The zotac amp has an issue with the fans momentarily ramping up due to (supposedly) some kind of interference that makes the card read higher temps for an instant.

I've had both:

G1 - coil whine issues - very loud, in all games whatever the frame-rate. Audible even with headphones on! I sent it back.

I replaced it with a Zotac AMP Extreme, which runs faster and cooler than the G1. I get some coil whine, but mostly not noticeable. My card suffers from the fan issue, but I can't hear it through my headphones. Hoping that Zotac can solve this with a future bios update.

Both of mine are fine :)

(but have quality psu)

Using the G1 here without coil whine :)

I game at 1440p using After Burner / Riva Tuner to cap the frame rate to 59. I tried Nvidia's own Adaptive Vsync but it crashes some games and causes more tearing than the frame limiter. Card seems to push past 1500/8000 with just an increase in power limit. With the F4(quiet BIOS) I don't notice the three fans on auto above a pair of Noctua AF-140s @ 1100 rpm. These spin up from 700 via a fan controller and have a max rpm of 1500. I find 1100 pulls enough air through a filter while keeping the inside dust free.

I did have some coil whine on a MSI 970 which an eight hour session of World of Tanks cured.

If I had to choose a 980Ti again It would be between the Gigabyte and MSI. Gigabyte would be my first choice.

still not sure, i like the zotac as it runs cooler and less noise, but then the fan issue when it spins fast for no reason, such a expensive card why :(

have to think and read more

Thanks

I have a G1 Gaming, and I cannot recommend it enough. Just make sure you don't have a budget tier PSU for it.

It's easy to overclock and performs really well & cool.

I have a 850w Coolermaster silent Pro, im leaning towards the G1 now

I have the Zotac too, it's amazingly well made, I don't have any coil whine, and I also don't have the problem with the fans spinning up. It's dead quite and runs things flawlessly at 1600P!

No problems with mine neither, but if the GPU gets on the hot side there's like a turbo fan for 3 seconds then that's it!

Amazing 4k card.

I have the G1 with no coil whine at all; however, seem to have some trouble overclocking it. Max I can get is 1497 at boost with increase in power limit and +0.037v. Was hoping to join the 1500 club but alas.. it's all a bit of a silicone lottery..
