What would you do GTX970 or R9 390?

the 3.5gb vram thing would put me off straight away if I knew about it before I bought mine I would have just bought 290x

I would say a R9 390 unless you have an SFF case or play a very Nvidia friendly game where I would choose the GTX970,but more importantly how much will the upgrade cost the OP??

I would not sell my 780 for a 970 as they perform similar so I guess I'd buy a 390 if I wasn't happy with a 780.

have you not read his first post ? hes selling it as part of another machine for his friend.

I would say go for 980 if budget allows or 390x so he has some form of performance boost or better yet 980ti

With a small case and PSU i would go for the 970, if the 390 is anything like the 290 then theyre quite power hungry and give off plenty of heat.

For 1440P i would say get the 390 but in a Mini case with a 500 Watt PSU i think the 970 will suit you better.

Thanks for all the input guys. I feel its possibly the worst time at the moment to choose a GFX card. With a die shrink due next and a reluctance to pour £450+ into the current latest card its really difficult! I did originally consider the Fury Pro but then the 4gb ram was a concern when putting that much money into a card.

I feel that its an opportunity to pass on the GTX780 and get some money for it. Its a fantastic card and also has the Hynix ram on so is a great clocker, but my friend wants to get into pc gaming and I would be passing on a [email protected] and feel the 780 is an excellent match for the system and will be a great entry point for my friend to get into PC gaming.

Blatant hijack alert!

Since reading the reviews I very much like the look of the Cougar QBX. How are you finding it? Also, none of the reviews I've read have pictures which give a size comparison. Yes, they give measurements but I have trouble visualising them. So how dinky is it really?

Its a great case for the money. A fair bit of plastic mind but both sides are meshed so good ventilation and a total of 5 120mm fans makes for great cooling for an M-ITX system. I took a some photos next to a X360 to give you an idea on size. It currently houses a Corsair H75 AIO in a Push Pull config cooling my 2600K
