Not on my arm though.

are you turning up with just the clothes on your back randomly and rapidly moving through the country?

they dont exactly have the time to sort out a ncie pretty card do they

would ratehr they just repatedly ask who they are and get differnt answeres at every stage?

Yeah, nothing offensive about numbering people before you let them on the train.

Who is it offensive to exactly? I don't imagine there were many Auschwitz survivors amongst the immigrants. If the trivial number of Auschwitz survivors elsewhere are upset about it, then by all means speak up. But if you mean the perpetually offended bleeding heart types in the West, please spare us. Those buggers are indignant if a Disney princess is Caucasian.

Save me your faux moral outrage. Order needs to be restored in EU-Schengen and cataloging the migrants, may of whom have destroyed their documentation is a good starting point.

I'm not trying to be funny here, it's a genuine question: What would they do if one of the people getting off the boats was a holocaust survivor*? Give him a new number or just note his existing one?

*<1/2 of them were Jews, the rest were mixed nationalities/colours and more.

ubersonic you need to check your Afghan history - you have it very mixed up

Afghanistan suffered a soviet backed coup that overthrew its government and then tried to force its population to become communists - suprisingly some of them didnt want to be
The Soviets invaded when Amin (who had his predecessor killed) got more insane and was starting to annoy the Soviet high command and they decided to bump him off and take over directly

The US reponse was 1. A Cold war proxy fight (just as the USSR had done with Vietnam) 2. In support of these people who didnt want to be commusints, or who had suffered under Amins short and murderous reign

If anything blame the lack of support Afghanistan recieved AFTER the USSR left - this is what caused the Civil War and Tablian rise to power

If you blame the US for backing the Mujahideen of which some became Taliban - well blame Pakistan for that, the US had no direct contact with Rebel groups, the Pakistanis wouldnt allow it. The US wanted to back only the sensible leaders (who later became the Northen Alliance) but the Pakistanis insisted on supporting the nutters who became the Taliban

That's not how it happened, the Soviet invasion was in response to the western backing of "some afghan militants" against their government. The west knew that the USSR would have to back it's ally.

the soviet invasion occurred after a coup by a pro soviet.... who massacred a few thousand political prisoners and 'invited' soviet troops in

Give them a new number of course. They need to fit within the sequence used by the authorities.

I see no reason to get emotional over this issue. Unless people are actually being sent to death camps, I find comparing this to the holocaust to be the offensive part of this discussion.

Might be a silly question but here goes anyway...

Where is the international pressure on the governments of the countries these people are coming from to improve so their people do not want to leave in the first place?

The piece to the puzzle you're missing is that the Afghan government prior to the coup was friendly with the USSR, had been since the 50's. The Soviets were actually upset by the coup (which was instigated by the Afghan communist party and not backed by the USSR), they didn't want a coup because their friendly terms with the government basically meant they got their cake and got to eat it whereas after a coup they would get all the problems that they did get after the coup.

What's that sound? Oh yeah it's the sound of desperate back-tracking. The vast majority of migrants are supposedly from Syria - that would be the Syria where no intervention has taken place. The next largest group of migrants are from Eritrea - again no intervention. This was always destined to happen as soon as the EU implemented the Schengen agreement - there's always war and poverty, there always will be while these countries remain morally and financially corrupt. On that note I heard Pakistan today declared an informal ceasefire so that the Taliban could meet in peace and select a new leader. But of course, according to the wit and wisdom of do_ron_ron, it's all our fault isn't it?

What part of "FAR, FAR FEWER" do you not understand?????????????????

Do you have a reading problem? Or are you just ignoring that which does not fit into your blinkered view?

The rest of your post is just total infantile BS.

They were also friendly to the US - who irrigated the Helmand river valley during the 50's

but yes the USSR thought it was far to early for a coup (lets agree it was Taraki and Amins fault then?)

Such was cold war politics though - unfortunately it ruined lots of countries

This is what i was getting at with an earlier post. It appears the motives of the western governments is to help to destabilise countries then turn their backs. The US and isreal being the main culprits for this.

I think all Libyans migrants should be sent to the US.

So if the UK is full, lets invade Iraq, Establish some order bring back national service so plenty of jobs to go around for the youth of today.

The people get some stability and infrastructure.

We get

Year round holidays in the sun
Oil
New cuisine
Arabic in Schools
Solar Power
Sand for Norfolk.

Libya does not have a central government anymore. Its is by a city by city basis with milita`s depending on district.

What they need is a good dictator.
