*** OnePlus 2 ***

How's the build quality?

Very good and solid, I can't see any manufacturing defects on the phone, everything looks like it fits perfectly together on it. Even the removable back cover fits very flush with the rest of the phone.

So how does the OPT work with Android upgrades? Do they push them out or does it lag behind like most non Nexus phones? Is there developer support from people like xda?

Updates was ok with the OPO with COS but I believe Oxygen OS got the 5.1 update faster than COS. Oxygen OS is built directly from OP this time but it's too early to tell how fast their update speeds are. However, judging from the forums, expect only a year of software updates, the phone will get Marshmallow, but I have no idea if it will get N. I guess it will depend if they update the OPO to M (which is not even 2 years old yet). Developer support on the other hand is great, OP's bootloader unlocks like a Nexus device and it doesn't affect the warranty. There's a lot of support for the OPO so I expect it to be the same for the OP2.

So how does one go about getting an invite?

You uh... :D. there's the reservation list but the numbers on it is around over 4 million. Alternatively win it from a contest. The easiest way however is to wait for a current OP2 user to get a shareable invite when they become avaliable. No idea when this will happen. Mine wasn't bought from my account so I won't get these any time soon.

Just an update on my current experience with the phone.
Grounding issue with the home button. I have now noticed it, this only happens when I'm holding it with my left hand, and use the right hand's pointing finger to tap it. Using my right thumb however is still fine.
have you considered RMAing it based on that? or you won't bother?
not sure what to do when mine arrives as this is HW related, so no SW update will cure it.

It happens very occasionally so I don't think I will, I seem to have adapted to it so it rarely happens now. I found if you press it with enough pressure as if you was pressing a hardware button, it works pretty much all the time.

And RMA with OP... if there's anything I learnt from OP forums, it's the very poor customer support OP has. Better off fixing it yourself :p. I may be tempted to do this if it does bother me in the future, opening the phone looks very easy: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/OnePlus+2+Teardown/45352

It should just be a case of adding proper insulation to the home button.

Just got my invite and placed an order for the OPT.

Not sure how I feel about this, can't really justify upgrading from my OPO...

Edit: Just cancelled my order. Definitely an impulse buy after a 12 hour shift

Why did you add yourself to the reservation list if you weren't sure about upgrading?

#hype maybe ?

A lot of people who will get invites will not order he opt, I was same, ordered the opt. Had second thoughts after watching reviews, so cancelled.

plus I am 179k on the list and I got invite last week, there's no logic to the invites being sent out imo

Screw them, can't be bothered with this ridiculous invite nonsense, I've advised my mate to get something else instead.

to be fair, if Nexus 5X and 6X are priced competitively, OP better do something about the crappy invite system, or I can't see people favoring OPT vs say 6X if similar HW is used.

Just received an invite out of the blue, which seems a bit odd. Perhaps they have more stock than anticipated?

I'd only be buying one to flog though, so seems a bit pointless.

probably from people grabbing invites and not using them/cancelling orders.

Definitely, why would you join an enormous queue for a phone with questionable update support when you could just grab one with pure Android from Google or CPW etc.?

they dont have stock at the moment, people are saying 2-3 weeks delivery.

the time of buying to sell has now passed as they can be picked from China for not much more than through the invite.

Seems odd then that they're sending out invites unnecessarily :/
