We've got an acute housing shortage in this country, how else are house prices increasing at a rate significantly above inflation? The majority of those vacant houses will be in places without work and/or uninhabitable.

I think that it's important that steps are taken to ensure that these people are properly integrated into our society and do not introduce the traditions or practices which contributed to what they're fleeing.

For some people, regrettably it seems to be rocket science... look lads, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but what some of us can't fathom is is how bigoted some of you come across as. Trust me if the situation was reversed it would be all of you doing the same desperate things as these people.

And yes while it is probable that Isis, Isil or whomever have sent some terrorists over, not everyone is a terrorist... and yes there are seemingly a lot of able bodied men, but that's because statistically they're the most likely to survive the journey. That and I'm positive the media enjoy the bias an image like that provides.
 
I honestly think the problem would sort itself out if we stopped giving handouts, and these migrants had to do it the American dream style - make yourself a life with your own two hands. Giving them benefits and freebies incites laziness.

You'd find that a lot of them wouldn't bother coming, and those that actually came to work and contribute (which I am fine with) would have an easier time without the public prejudice from this current crisis.

Just some thoughts.

I know because the road is paved with Euros and Pounds.

Asian migrants who came over in the later half of the last century certainly did a damn good job. They are a hell of a lot more enterprising than the enormous majority of white British people, and less reliant on the state. Unlike many of us, they weren't spoon fed and didn't have a nice life and therefore have way more incentive to make improvements.

If only the shoe were on the other foot.

I do kind of agree with you there.

A safe (warm, dry etc) place to live/sleep, enough food of sufficient quality to meet dietary requirements, health care to maintain thier health and education for under 18s is only what should be provided until it's safe for them to return home.

I see no reason for "cash" - although I know why the government does it as it's cheaper than supplying the things bought with the "cash" directly and it stop big companies profiteering when supplying services/goods to the refugees.

Dirty chin chilla comes in moral gun ho waving.

Again no thought given to why these threads blow up and why people have concerns. And to be quite frank a lot of these concerns are totally justified.
 
So when are the pro refugees *cough* migrants *cough* on this forum going to invite them into your homes?
