Literally. Currently we are living in a flat which is a joy to live in the summer but a nightmare in the winter. Its kind of overshadowed by tall structures on both sides , so does not get a great deal of direct sunlight. As my gf described it , its a bit like a cellar.

Even with the heating on , it still feel a bit morbid. Partly due to some seals around the doors are busted (which we will fix).

Are there any tips to overclock the heating in the house without breaking the bank?

Cheers!

I see you kind of got ahead of me - if its ground floor then rugs and possibly other ground based insulation can make a fair difference.

Joking aside my place used to be similar in the winter before it was rennovated and everything was insulated.

What you need is base layers! Get yourself some long johns, thermal socks, a base top to wear under your t-shirts etc

It'll make a big difference and is cheap to do.

Cover yourself in goose fat and sew yourself into your long johns, you'll be all set for winter. lol.

Check if you qualify for free or reduced cost cavity wall insulation and loft insulation.
