What would you recommend?

Ideally as new as possible, reliable and reasonable everything else. I'd sacrifice mpg for power though... but nothing too mad. ;)

If you want something quite new there isn't masses of choice.

Mk3 mx-5 I guess, even then it'll be about 8 years old. If you don't mind a 10+ year old car then z4 etc

Thanks for replies all. Was looking at Z4's but don't want to be a BNW driver as it will 'turn me to the dark side'.

MX-5 - a drivers car but just... no! lol Sorry... great cars but no... I have a shaved head so I'd get told to move to Brighton...

S2000 is a good call though!

Considered Boxster's or TT's but just thinking I'd have to up the budget and get a proper Porsche like a 996 or something otherwise I'd just feel like I'd been ripped off. Although the Boxster S does sound more like it.

Why do You want a convertible heading into Autumn/winter :p
U would probably struggle to get a decent one for 5k as the S2000's etc are pricey.

Need to be a bit clearer on what you actually want. A z4/S2000 etc will be 11-12 years old for the money

Wouldn't stop me owning one but you wanted something as new as possible, which pretty much only leaves the Mazda!

Until you came up with the suggestions I thought I was quite open to different things.

Sorry... lol.

Have to admit I do like the look of the Z4 though.

I'm kinda just juggling things at the moment and working things out - I have a garage and if needed a 2nd transport. I don't fancy sitting in rush hour for ages when I can (eventually and hopefully) cycle there in half the time.
