Don't care, it wont change the way I use or experience facebook one iota.

Facebook can be pretty much broken down into a few categories.

* Gloating Posts (look at my new car, on holiday, fancy restaurant, "amazing" children, new boy/girl friend)

* Political Posts (Isn't Dave a ****, Tory's booo, hug a tree, save the animals)

* Clickbait

None of it is very sociable or likeable tbh.

Only if that's the kind of thing you want to see, FB is so customizable there's no need to see such things unless you want to.

My usage of FB has basically ended, a useless narcissistic gropey perversion of socialising.

Not as bad as tumblr, but its getting there.

I think it's a good thing, especially if people post up bad news, I always think it's odd to see people 'liking' something that's related to tragedy etc..

That's what I thought too!

I was listening to Chris Evans this morning on my way to work and he clearly couldn't figure it out. He said Mark Z was talking nonsense....it's not a hard concept to grasp!

Insurance companies love it when you post you're away on holiday giving them another reason not to pay out when your house gets stripped clean after you've advised the fact it's empty for 2 weeks....

Cant see why she is bothered. Its not a popularity contest.

And handy for other things.

If somebody posts "my mum passed away this morning" it never felt right to click "like" whereas "dislike" would be appropriate for bad news.

Why people share this sort of news on the internet is beyond me. Didnt someones family keep their facebook page open 3 years after they died to receive messages? Hw can people move on when they do this sort of thing - very sad IMO

seems odd - if someone posts a serious story and then you dislike it is that supposed to be a good thing?? because i would take it the other way entirely.

I struggle to understand how Facebook is so important to people, like the OP and his wife. Sure it has it's uses, but do you really care that much? Seriously, and to post a thread about it?

I log in once every couple months, for about 2 minutes.

It's full of the most mundane crap for the most part. "Went shopping." "First day of school today!" "Did you see the new M. Knight Shamalamadingdong film? It had a bear in it!"

GD is far more interesting.
