*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Feel very sorry for those without the Taken King, it appears that bungie have removed even more content from their game which is a bit off.

Should we be earning legendary marks now from crucible?

No. They've removed legendary marks dropping from crucible matches and public events.

The amount of marks you can earn from the heroic strikes is capped at 30 per week as well. See below post :

There are multiple ways to collect Legendary Marks. To make things easier, here's a checklist of activities that reward you with precious Marks:

Disassemble Year 2 Legendary weapons and armor

Complete Daily Story Chapters

Complete Daily Crucible activities

Complete Strikes in the Vanguard Heroic Playlist

So what's the point in crucible now if we don't get marks for it?

I'm now forced to play modes I don't enjoy or PvE (when I prefer PvP) to earn anything.. That's pretty **** in my opinion.

well you know, you could always, you know, play it for fun ?

You get legendary marks from the daily challenges issued by Shax. But thats it, no more grinding marks by just playing games.

whats been removed ?

None yet :(

And best I got was a blue helmet which was 265 defence/light which I was surprised at for a blue :/

the best loot goes to those that have the crystals to start the event off.

Just realised I've posted pretty much nothing but negativity lol, actually loving ttk so far and all I've done is story missions, Nathan Million has stolen the show with his voice work, the new areas are great, really liking the nightstalker class too, absolutely epic when you get the void wall grenade right and as for the special, so cool, very much looking forward to seeing what the other subclasses are like :-)

yep. The xbox one crowd are all on each other's friends list and just start a party. People then usually drop in / out all night and will do a mixture of stuff together or separately while chatting in party chat.

I only managed a couple of hours play last night, and mainly PvP but I have to say the new PvP Maps are great and I'm not sure if it's the balancing but it was really fun to play.

Only got in 2 hours last night so finished the story, sitting at 225 light right now. Any idea how you get marks for PVP, would be ideal for me as I can easily rack up 75+ marks a day.

Warning: Positive post... :p

Despite having my reservations about picking up Destiny again, mainly due to the time it swallows up and being really bored with House of Wolves I decided to give it try.

I have to say I really like the TTK, it nearly feels like a brand new game whilst remaining very familiar. It was also good to spend a bit of time with the old XB1 crowd whilst playing, there was the usual banter and they helped answer a few of my questions on things I've missed. Thanks guys.

Whilst I won't allow it take over my life again like it did when the game first came out I look forward to playing some more.

whats been removed ?

Nothing has been removed as such, it would be better to say that lots of activities have been moved out of reach of players who don't have TTK. TBH the pros and cons of this approach are about equal in my mind so Bungie were never going to unanimous approval of it.

I agree, I was saying last night that I like you now feel involved in missions. Rather than simply being given a missions to go off and do something we are being told why and talked to etc. It is also nice to have some humour in there too and it works well that Nathan Fillion is delivering those lines as he does them well. I laughed more than I should have at the Cayde6/Eris funeral, it's not a funeral conversation :D

I have finished the story missions but haven't got in to the strikes or Court of Oryx stuff yet but my first impressions are (put in spoilers as I know how sensitive some people are)

Pro's
- Story is so much better than previously. There is still some go to the tower, do a mission, go to tower, do a mission but with the cut scenes and conversations going on it isn't such a chore.
- The missions are enjoyable and the taken are a challenge to deal with. Also, whereas previously it always seemed you would fight in a this is a fallen bit, this is a vex bit there is now multiple enemies at the same time. Nothing ground breaking but helps give a narrative and actually feel there is a war going on.
- Only played with the Warlock Stormcaller but a fun super and something new. I am starting to think Bungie want to live out Star Wars fantasy between the sparrow and now force lightning :D
- Quests - nothing ground breaking but give lots to do and makes the grind for gear more interesting and varied.
- Drednaught - So far only played on a small part of it so not sure how much you can actualyl walk around but a nice new location. Completely different to the existing locations.
- Change of weapons - I miss my old weapons as much as anyone but the 2.0 balancing and replacement of guns adds a little bit of freshness rather than using the same guns again as we have for the past year.

Undecided
- I am not sure whether the change to XP for level and light being seperate is a change for good or bad. It is a littler clearer now as light level 170 = 170 rather than light 170 = level 34 but then missions still appear as a level 34 or level 36 not what light level you need to be to complete it.

Cons
- £ per Content - While I know we got new missions which are better, gained quests etc. it is arguable that they should have been in the game anyway or quests could have been added without paying for DLC as they don't add content they give us more to do. Ultimately we gained not much content for a lot of money.

Overall - TTK feels like what Destiny should have been for the past year. There isn't a great deal of content but what it does add is done very well. The addition of quests doesn't add content but adds to the overall playability/replayability of area and maps. We know nothing of the raid so far but I think it will make or break TTK. What I played so far makes me hopeful for a VoG style raid rather than CE.

Edit: I can't quite work out the logic of the legendary marks. You can carry a max of 200 and you can earn as many in a week as you like.....well except we have now limited the ways you can earn them so you can't earn that many.

Yeah, this has peed me off more than anything. But I suppose they don't want you running around with all the Year 1>Year 2 exotics unlocked after just a week. Gotta keep the punters hungry and coming back for more...

It amounts to the same thing if you don't own TTK, the strike playlist is a classic example, only level 20 is available to non TKK owners, that's not even challenging.

All other game modes (other than public events) still reward players with marks. Why should half the community that prefers PvP not still earn the required currency for better equipment etc?

People are allowed to have adverse opinions to your own. There's no need to be patronising just because I've said I dislike one aspect of the new patch. I still like Destiny, just not as much as you clearly..

you can now only get PVE legendary marks by doing the dailies and some quests too. The other major avenue of grinding marks (the strike playlist) went along with grinding crucible marks at the same time. PVP only players can earn just as many marks as PVE only players. You can get 10 marks 3 times a week for doing the strikes in the heroic playlist, but you can't grind them endlessly. PVE mark rewards got hit along with PVP mark rewards.

My sarcasm was based upon you pointing out that crucible was now "pointless" Surely the main point in game like this is to have fun no ? :)

Minor point, the level cap for non TTK owners was 30 (this was the level cap at launch). That has been raised to 34 with TTK. Not that it matters as none of the vanilla content needs you to be higher than 30.

Yes, they've given non TKK owners something to do for a couple of hours so that they miss the fact that their game is now a turkey shoot how magnanimous of them :)
