Missing 15yr Old Girl

What exactly needs debating about a police officer posting some missing persons information to try and find someone?

The more information we get the more we can do. I simply thought discussing things could reveal more facts that may help find her possibly. Saying nothing helps nobody. Clearly I should say nothing as it seems I just upset people. Not intentionally btw.

Do these kinds of postings ever really make a difference, you see them on FB now and again but do they really help. I assume most people will forget about this within about 2 mins.

Let's be sensible here, these people are professionals at trying to find missing persons, do you not think they'd have already thought about what information would be useful to the public in finding her and what would be irrelevant?

You must never stay for the ending then as yes, especially facebook, posts like this spread at a astronomical (spell check please Sliver) rate and leads to pools of information.

Agreed, but Burnsy posted this here as an option for helping find her, gathering whatever information may help, so why can't we have a civil discussion about it ? This is a forum, a place for debate. Granted it's GD so have a taxi on standby. :p

she was last seen at a youth club at Wesley Methodist Church, Fromond Road, at about 8pm on Sept 18

This might sound obvious, but have you checked the youth club?

A police officer would typically try to ascertain whether she was actually seen exiting the place. If you're telling me the last place someone actually saw her was INSIDE the venue itself then that sounds really, really fishy (or just really bad investigative work).

Usually people are "last seen" heading home/at a train station/etc from wherever they were. This also clears the venue/host of any wrongdoing because they have witness testimonies saying that the missing person was out in the public.

If none of her friends saw her exiting, or none of her friends left with her, and as you say she was last seen INSIDE the club, then she's probably still there.

Hopefully she just wanted a sleepover in a church and will turn up to school on Monday.

The difference between "last seen at a youth club" and "last seen exiting a youth club" is absolutely huge and you need to figure that out before you mobilise any kind of search party.

So professional that they use a predominantly IT based computer forum to find a 15 year old girl. Goodness knows how good Sherlock must have been finding people before computers :D Working with kids of this and similar ages, I can understand (and probably know) the situation so yes, its important that this girl is found quickly, and as others have said, 48 hours is 47 hours too long. I assume the leaders of the youth centre have been appropriately chided on their safe guarding policies (or lack of)....

Local facebook groups are good for spreading word.

Its helped us pin down and ID personnel involved in crime with descriptions passed on in the past

Any exposure would be good for this case but I would assume people are already posting on the facebook groups, hope she is found safe and well

Hope she is found soon, thoughts with her family.

Silver, I don't know you and have never came across you here, my advise to you is to walk away from this thread and stay quiet dude, just this once. ;)

you are doing yourself no favours here.

I hope she is found soon, doesn't sound good at all.

P.S Burnsy I know this probably isn't the best place to ask but seeing as you are a police officer I have been interested now for sometime to apply and work for the MET, apart from the obvious places to enquire could you supply any more info for me to establish more potential to fulfil my future endeavours?

Thanks

Being that Burnsy is also plod, he might know something about the case that the general public may not know yet, hence the reason for higher concern (as he has already alluded to).

This entirely.

Can only hope she is found safe and well.:(
Some threads people just shouldn't be a **** in. This is one of those threads.

Yes, they do, and often.

What more info do you need? She's missing, if you see someone who matches the description, notify the police. That's the only purpose of this being posted here. You seem to be fishing for more details about her disappearance or vulnerable state which is frankly appalling and not in the least bit relevant.

Agreed

Sorry but I must be able to express my views on a democratic forum such as this, kind of as it is lol. If everyone agreed with me about everything then ultimately I'd have nothing to say. I speak my mind honestly and with a certain self proclaimed integrity because my beliefs and opinions are not something I take lightly, I reason them out. The fact that that some take umbrage to some of what I post serves only to strengthen my view that I'm promulgating debate which is a good thing. We all have differing opinions about everything, but your implication that I should be silent stifles this notion. I've done nothing wrong in this thread except incur the wrath of the usual haters. I've said nothing wrong and my intentions have been nothing other than positive. I would never try and silence you so please extend me the same courtesy.

I just want to know as much as possible. If I could help I would but right now I don't know enough so I can't. All I can do is respond to criticisms like you have made, which to be fare are not warranted. I'm not the bad guy here. I hope she returns home safe and well.

It's not a democratic forum. It's a private individuals forum and they are within their right to remove anything they don't like and make rules. Which is why we can't post or talk about competitors or criticize staff openly or swear openly.

If you want a "democratic" forum, you're in the wrong place.
