*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I'm Really tempted to give this game another shot (although on Xbox One this time around)
If I buy the legendary edition (with all the DLC and The Taken King) I'll have to grind the **** out of it to get above lvl 20 though as my previous game save is on PS4, really not sure I can go through all that again.

Edit to add: I can't buy it on PS4 again as my console blew up.

You'll get a one-off consumable that will bump a character straight to level 25.

So, I cant decide whether the Boolean Gemini is rubbish or the greatest scout rifle ever.

I'm not sure either. Hits pretty hard in PvP but the perks are wasted. I really don't like the scope either. If it had elemental damage like Zhalo or something it would be pretty good.

My NM AR with focused fire just destroys in PvE, the Boolean is useless in comparison.

Allegedly....

Nightfall is S.A.B.E.R. strike with Void, Specialist, Trickle, Berserk, and Epic.

EDIT : FALSE!

Nightfall is now a random strike with modifiers :

Epic

Void Burn

Berserk

Specialist

Trickle

EDIT2: Actually the director is lying. It's the SABER strike, yuck.

Glad I have a 293 void sidearm. Fusion would be nice though!

All my sidearms have gone on infusing as shotguns or fusion rifles seem better. Maybe I am missing the point of sidearms. Telesto should be fun and I think I have a 29X light void rocket launcher which should be pretty handy :)

All that fuss about legendary marks last week. I have enough now to buy things but I can't see anything I want that is better than what I already use! :(

Similar to pre-ttk, all those vanguard marks but nothing was any better than what I had ie exotics, primaries, secondaries and heavies with elemental damage on them.

Btw how many marks can u have stored per week?? Is it still 200 like the vanguard marks or is it more now ie I could only ever hold 200 of vanguard marks at any time even though I was going through dailies, weeklies and Nightfalls every week.

Yeah it was going to end this way. Though for me there are some weapons I want to buy, they will only be 280 but as they will be filling in a gap for a weapon I don't have they wont be so bad. After that I will be buying armour on my alts as I have very little drop that is for my hunter or titan.

Marks are now shared across all characters so the limit is now 200 marks per account. If you hit 200 and nothing to spend them on there is very little reason to do the daily pve, daily pve etc.

Surely they're supposed to come after? Saving those until after the vanilla storyline in any case, even if I'll be massively overlevelled for them.

THe content of those DLCs was content they never finished in time for the original game. It was cut out half finished and re added later as paid DLC. (How much of the "only half finished" bit you believe is up to you)

the intention was always for that content to be part of the main story and for it to be in the same timeline.

there is no such thing as elemental damage. All the element does is help you take down the appropriate shield quicker.

Once the shield is down you do exactly the same damage as a non elemental gun. in PVP for example elements do nothing.

Crikey - I might give Nightfall a miss this week! Even on the Heroic Strike I find SABER a tough mission, several groups I played with couldn't get past the initial encounter defending the warsat!

Ah ok, that makes a bit more sense.

Let's talk weapons. Since completing the base story last night, I now have The Stranger's Rifle. From what I can tell, there's no point in upgrading it by gaining experience with it, and instead the best course of action is to simply bank it until I start gaining Legendary marks to bring it up to max damage? Does that turn it into a Year 2 weapon, or does that not apply as it's a Legendary and not an Exotic?

I also have Husk of the Pit. Essentially I just murder lots and lots of Hive with this to get it to upgrade, correct? If so, then I'll save that until a time that I have nothing to do.

Tonight I'll either be doing the rest of The Dark Below story quests, or the House Of Wolves story quests. Or Crucible.

What raids are there? I'm a bit unclear as to how many raids there are in the game barring the Taken King one. Year 1 raids are Crota and the Vault of Glass? Any others?

Don't bother upgrading the damage on your strangers rifle, it won't go past 170 making it useless in PVE.

Keep it however as its one of the most overpowered crucible guns around. It absolutely wrecks.

Husk of the pit upgrades to Eidon Alley, you then have to level that to the max. Once that happens you need a drop from the Crota's end hard mode raid to drop to let you upgrade it to the exotic necochasm .. which will only upgrade to a year 1 exotic of 170 attack making it useless now in year 2.

Stick it in the vault and save it for a time when you're bored. Getting the drop from the raid may take many many attempts as it has a very low drop rate.

There are two main raids

1) Vault of glass. Level 26 regular or level 30 hard mode. Vanilla game
2) Crotas End. Level 28 regular or level 33 hard mode. Part of Dark Below DLC

After that is the new raid in The Taken King called Kingsfall. Way off for you yet.

There is the prison of elders level 35, but only drops year 1 content which is now all useless so possibly only worth doing if you fancy the challenge and can find friends as the level 32/34/35 versions don't have match making.
