The labour Leader thread...

Trident doesn't need to be replaced because it won't stop working.

The delivery system has a fixed life span of around 30 years. The first of the vanguard class subs were launched in the early 90s, so a replacements will be need early next decade. You can't build nuclear subs quickly so a decision is needed imminently.

if Russia did invade in theory, we wouldn't use nuclear weapons then either.

If we get nuked in the UK then I can pretty much 100% guarantee it would be by a factor able to hide it's origin (proxy) or detonated domestically after being smuggled in. ).

How do you know all this for sure?

Oh wait that is right, you don't, and neither does anyone, hence the need for trident.

You're an idiot if you think the guy is a Marxist. There's a long distance between what Corbyn and McDonnell are talking about, and Marxism. Neither seem particularly interested in Marxism or Communism these days - they are economic and social systems that have been demonstrated to fail.

If I was you I would look up the big words you are quoting.

Quote"Marxist

noun

1.

the system of economic and political thought developed by Karl Marx, along with Friedrich Engels, especially the doctrine that the state throughout history has been a device for the exploitation of the masses by a dominant class, that class struggle has been the main agency of historical change, and that the capitalist system, containing from the first the seeds of its own decay, will inevitably, after the period of the dictatorship of the proletariat, be superseded by a socialist order and a classless society.

Communist quote"

In political and social sciences, communism (from Latin communis – common, universal) is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the ..."

So we all fall together in bed and turn into a big milking pot of ****.

No thank you. ;)

Lol this Corbyn guy is clearly still on a come down from the 60's drugs binge if he genuinely believes some of the rubbish coming out of his mouth

Like nurturing economic boom and leading the country to ever-increasing national prosperity. Like when Britain had "never had it so good". :p

I think the economic boom was mainly because we had just come out of a world war, everything was blown to **** and needed rebuilding :p

So it would be pretty hard 'not' to have an economic boom ;)

We could have aircraft launched nukes as an alternative, I know they're not as good as a submarine but it'd be awesome to have a modern replacement for the Vulcan.

We already did that, the Vulcans successor was called the TSR-2 but it was scrapped by Labour to save money in 1965 (project cancelled and planes scrapped), they chose instead to buy US designed/built F-111 planes to replace the Vulcan, then cancelled that order a few years later to save money (and appease the unions who were upset about the money going to the USA after British workers were made redundant by the decision to cancel TSR-2).

Wow...

He added that 187 countries "don't feel the need to have a nuclear weapon to protect their security", and asked "why should those five need it themselves?"

From the guy who bleats on about straight talking... you offer those 187 countries a paid for, NATO, etc. permitted, nuclear weapons program and the larger number wouldn't be turning you down.

 A large number of people don't turn down free things...I'm assuming you mean with 'paid for' that someone else has paid for it?

But pay for it yourself, then people measure up the cost/benefit ratio, that's just normal.
