The labour Leader thread...

Technically he is correct, 187 + 5 (he mentioned five nuclear powers in addition to 187) = 192 which is one of the correct answers. Depending on the source there are 189, 191, 192, 193, 194, 195 or 196 independent countries in the world today.

195 according to the UN.

The news organisations must be licking their lips over Corbyn. Less than 1 month in and the shadow cabinet is breaking ranks. It's going to be a fun 5 years if he lasts that long...

How do you know all this for sure?

Oh wait that is right, you don't, and neither does anyone, hence the need for trident.
This is faulty logic.

If we don't know we don't know, it's only your lack of imagination which limits your ability to consider a myriad of other scenarios in which a global resistance to disarmament results in our own demise.

The collective refusal to adhere to commitments made in the none proliferation treaty could just as easily lead to our destruction. To simply assert that possessing nuclear weapons is the 'safest' option isn't really founded in anything more than conjecture also.

Yes Prime Minister discussing Trident, I don't necessarily agree with either Hacker or Sir Humph, but it's worth a chuckle and the acting is top notch.

Corbyn:
Nukes 'Didn't Do USA Much Good On 9/11'

If he actually did say that I'm quite gobsmacked. Could you imagine any decent country leader ever actually saying that. I find it quite shameful and offensive to those involved in 9/11. What a clown.

Breaking ranks. Really? What was the comment: "unhelpful", "unwise". Well how unwise or unhelpful would it be to openly admit you would be willing to spread the consequences of mutual assured destruction across the globe?

So you are admitting you don't know?

Even though the statement is true?

Having nukes didn't stop Argentina invading us either did it?

Nuclear deterrents aren't to stop border skirmishes they are to deter the escalation to full blown war - if Argentina had presented an existential threat at that time they would have been an effective deterrent.

If you genuinely don't think you'd push the button the thing to do is not push the button, rather than broadcast to the universe as a potential head of state that you wouldn't do so. The guy is clearly out of his depth.

Come on, it is pretty indefensible really, it is not what he says, it is how he says things at times.

Well having nukes didn't do America much good re 9/11 did it?

I'm not sure what's so controversial about that. It's no different than saying that Americas foreign policy was a major contributor to setting up the scenario in which an attack like 9/11 could occur or even be contremplated.

I think it's quite clever really - we'll see why over the next year or so.

P.S. Corbyn wont be Labour leader in 3 years (nor does he want to be).
