The labour Leader thread...

Well having nukes didn't do America much good re 9/11 did it?

I'm not sure what's so controversial about that. It's no different than saying that Americas foreign policy was a major contributor to setting up the scenario in which an attack like 9/11 could occur or even be contremplated.

Its pretty much irrelevant to what happened though hence insensitive - nuclear weapons don't exist to stop random acts of terror. Its about as in context as saying having the biggest aircraft carriers in the world didn't prevent 9/11.

I think it's quite clever really - as will be evidenced over the next year or so.

Clever if you want to ensure that most of the population won't vote for you or your party... its actually a pretty **** childish thing to do.

They didn't but the manner in which he said it shows a lack of sensitivity towards the victims and their families.

Don't forget, this is the man who wants a nicer politics and the end to bullying etc etc.

Watch this space - there's a lot more going on in the Labour party than first appears ;)

The next two years are going to be fascinating for any political observer. There is going to be a seismic shift in the UK political landscape but not in a way most can imagine yet.

Well short of booting him out they aren't going to come out of this one looking very good...

"I do not think we should be renewing Trident... I think we should be promoting an international nuclear weapons convention which would lead to a nuclear-free world."

The poor deluded fool actually believes we can un-invent nuclear weapons - the alternative that human nature would fundamentally shift to that extent isn't going to happen any time soon :S

Did we uninvent landmines?

Did we uninvent landmines?

How is that even relevant? - possessing landmines doesn't give the country possessing them a several orders of magnitude edge in military capabilities over one that doesn't.

Banning landmines does very little if anything to shift the global balance of power.

Just watching the BBC News now. How on earth did this complete moron get into the position he's in? It's simply embarrassing.

Two hundred and fifty one thousand people wanted him in that position.

The common name for it is "democracy".

Remove anytime soon and replace with never, it's like gunpowder, it's here to stay.

It's probably quicker and easier to type 251,000 or even 251k.

It doesn't have the 'visual impact' you were going for but it looks less ridiculous.

I aplogise - I'm still in academic writing mode where we're expected to write larger numbers out as words, e.g.:-

There are over thirty million people living in Mexico City.

Florida contains several thousand disenfranchised voters.

I'll try to keep my sentences shorter for you next time.

Jesus just stop talking ****. This so called information you have is pointless if you don't want to share it. It's like me coming on here and telling people I know how to win the lotto each week but then saying "Wouldn't you like to know" when someone asks me how.

Again we are still waiting on a few things.

- You to pay back that student loan
- The so called report you help write that was heading off for peer review
- And a picture from London

It's unfair to imply he's a moron but he has lived in a world where his views have been unchallenged for so long he's convinced himself he's right (human psyche works in a way that were all convinced we're right but we don't use megaphones to the extent he does). He gives platforms to Palestinians, but not for debates with Israelis, just to beat a drum of the evils of the opposition.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of those 251,000 people are complete idiots who seem to think he's the second coming and that he will revolutionise UK politics, when in reality he's just an old dinosaur who is so caught in the past that it hurts, but of course it all sounds so different that it must be good...

Hopefully once the novelty of him being a new face wears off people will see past his nonsense and he'll be gone pretty quickly
