10 dead in a US college shooting

My wife told me 30min ago and I found myself just sort of nodding and saying "oh really", its at the point where its such a common occurrence that it would more shocking if there wasn't a college shooting. They are a country at war with themselves and I honestly find it hard to feel much sympathy because if they wanted it to change they would do so.

I'm sure Alex Jones will be a long soon immediately disrespecting the families of the dead by suggesting they're martyrs in a false flag, government-backed conspiracy to take away "yer gunnnzzzz"

A suppressor could have possibly been used. I thought these were illegal?

They are in some States I believe, but are mostly legal.

Why on earth they are needed is beyond me, but I guess they need to be fully tacticool because freedom.

RIP to the kids, but this is just going to keep happening unless they make some changes. Ib4 stop trying to change American laws etc.

No, they're legal but are incredibly difficult to get as you have to have all sorts of checks done. I was in a gun store a couple of months ago and they had a couple on sale for about $800. A friend was telling me that it takes about 6 months and (I think) you have to have interviews, etc.

Absolutely no idea why something like that would be legal.

If it happened in any sane country on the planet with such regularity there would be massive public pressure to sort it out. In the crazy land of the free though where there have been 142 school massacres since sandy hook in 2012 they seem to think th best course of action is to arm more people. 142, they dont give a monkeys!

But it's their right to defend themselves.... oh hang on.. they're already dead...

This is a crap thing to happen my heart goes out to them all. :(

That is a shocking figure!

That is a school massacre every week.

I'm sure it's been posted before on one of the many threads about Americans killing each other but Jim Jeffries' piece about gun control is bloody amazing. Cynical, hard hitting comedy about a very serious issue.

They should also ban alcohol consumption in the UK. I'm sure 10 people will end up dead this weekend.

Even though 99.9% are responsible enough to not kill or be killed having a quiet pint.

I'm really struggling to care about these attacks considering they know they are coming but continually refuse to do anything about it. They invite this upon themselves time and again (by they I mean the pressure groups obsessed with touching guns to compensate for their own personally small weapons)

142? Source?

Some of the comments here are very ill thought out. The idea that because they keep happening they 'invite them upon themselves' is massively flawed - the US is an enormous country with a HUGE population - there are therefore millions of innocent people who *do* want something done but are unable to because there are equally millions who don't want to see gun control etc. It's very complex, sadly, and far from as easy to fix as some people like to make out that it is.
