*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Just recently got this game (The Taken King version) along with a PS4. Slowly working through the story missions. Very slowly getting to grips with everything. There's so much to learn, especially considering some of the stuff I read on here.

Really enjoying it though!
 
Done the NF last night before I went out and have to say I don't see the point of doing it anymore, you really don't get anything from it unlike pre-ttk where it was rewarding to do the nf.

This week it's the undying mind, took me and 2 other randoms about 10 goes before we finally nailed the boss. Dropped 3 of the 3 of coins and got 2 legendary engrams which were lower light than what I had equiped lol. So not a good result from those coins.

Bought the celestial nighthawk helmet which is 280 light compared to my 2 exotic gauntlets which are both 290 light.
 
Nightfall is pointless now.. I've done if for the last 2 week and got nothing worth the effort (over an hour per run). It's better just to run Vanguard strikes.
 
Agreed, Vanguard with Three of Coins seems the way to go now, strange coins are pretty easy to come by so you can buy a pile of Three of Coins from Xur each week and farm an almost guaranteed exotic from 60-90 minutes.
 
it is with three of coins. Three of coins from xur gets you an exotic engram every couple of ultra kills. It makes no difference if those ultras are on the normal strike playlist or the heroic.
 
Does anyone know of a bug where you have no quests? I decided to start my hunter but I have no outstanding markers on my nav page so can't pick up any of the TTK quests. I have had a google but not found anything.

Edit: To clarify, I can access TTK content in strikes, daily missions etc. I just don't have anyone to talk to to pick up the story missions.

Edit 2: Ok this is weird, I can launch the mission on phobos and now I have the quest for it.

When you do pick up heavy, just go and hide for a minute til people have used their rockets. Then watch the radar and lurk round corners waiting to chop people up :)
 
I just did it on mayhem clash, took about 5 games and I suck. But heavy spawns more, games feel quicker and people are running about like mad men.. Just wade in kill 2-3 die and repeat.
 
Matthew managed to survive the Oversoul on Crota this after noon by using his sword.

I love how little things like this are getting worked out by the community, I wonder what will be revealed next!
 
So I had vanilla destiny with the two expansions although never played past level ten.

I've recently just gotten TTK and have a couple of questions.

Where do I get the year 1 VIP rewards? Do I need to be a certain level for the quest to pop?

If I use the level 25 boost its it still possible to revisit the old quests? Is it recommended I play through the first 25 normally before boosting or should I just boost and get going as I won't miss much?

I had the frontier shell on my old character but if I create a new one I don't receive it from the post master? Is this only designed to be given to one if your characters?
 
not done the new raid yet, will it be do-able with a group from lfg? I have two quest lines that both need me to do kings fall so need to start trying to get a group together. 294 light now.
