Why won't my car sell?

Hmmm weird! Well there's a site that says how many of your car exist...maybe it's identical ones.

It was for an MX-5, which is what I'm buying, but I couldn't make up the difference.
The stereo immediately puts me off because it creates a picture of the owner in my head. I see an aftermarket stereo, amplifier, larger than standard alloys, non-standard air filter and then top it all off part service history. Someone who values sticking tat onto their car more than maintaining it properly.
If I was looking at cars of that age I'd be looking for one that seemed well looked after, for my own peace of mind. No offence intended, that's just my thinking.

Itthis thing about the stereo is just silly, honestly. Would you really be happier seeing an usable tape deck in there?! The head unit died, that's why it's been replaced. And then the amplifier enables you to use the factory fitted subwoofer.

And no movement on price at all of the car you're buying. Dealer was probably assuming £500 for yours and £400 off the car he's selling

It hasn't got the super S Line pack with 19 inch rims, twin exhausts and sparkly Led headlights that's why it's not selling 
Most people who only want a 1k run around would probably be scared of the bills that car could throw up whereas they could just get a Focus or Astra that's a few years newer with half the mileage for the same price.

Also at this price point, people generally avoid Auto's, which is why you may have not had much response. I'd get it on Gumtree and Ebay and drop the price a little. Just put the basics in the advert, ie what it is, mileage,mot and history information etc.
