How soon will you be getting a new monitor? At this moment in time I'd try and wait out for the next generation of cards.

The 980ti has 6GB of Vram instead of 4, overclocks much higher meaning its 20-30% faster in most ganes, is actually in stock more of the time and is generally cheaper

What PC case do you have and are there any particular models you are looking at?
Is you 290X giving you any problems though, as it might last you out till the next gen?

980Ti is better than a Fury X at 1080p, they become a lot closer at 4k, and I am not too sure about 1440p.

I'd personally opt for the Ti - Bit cheaper if you wait for a deal - But with a "big leap" due early next year for GPUs, I'd hold out if you can :p

well i kinda want to get the gpu asap because i just got some money and i know if i dont buy a gpu the cash will disappear some other way aka woman lol my case is enthoo luxe i kinda just want to upgrade as i doubt i be able to upgrade for long time :S

also when you say big leap early next year how big will it make the 980ti or fury x seem kinda bad and will need a new gpu for games or

Well Pascal (next generation of cards) are rumoured to be 50-80% better, however it's more likely that it will be the lower versions (950, 960, 970 for instance) when they are released in the early parts of next year, not too sure when the big ones will be out.

As for your 980Ti choice, it depends what you want to prioritise, aesthetics, clock speeds, or temperature/quietness.

Most of the models are good across the board, but some excel in one area whilst not being so good in another - And as for clock speeds, all will reach 1400MHz without issue really, but if you aren't comfortable with overclocking they should be taken into consideration :p

If you have the cash for either then I would get the 980ti as it is the faster of the two.

Hanging on for the next gen is always recommended but I would bet that the leap in performance will not be as large as people are assuming. Smaller processes haven't moved CPUs on leaps and bounds and all the talk of Skylake being a huge jump prior to release turned out to be cobblers. Buy the best you can afford now and don't worry about what may be coming.

yeah i dont mind about quietness i just want whatever is best for speed and coolness i doubt i will overclock it for a while theres like msi gtx and gigabyte and asus not sure what one lol

Well the MSI Gaming 6G is a good balance between good clock speeds, quietness and coolness, and what I would suggest to most people really.

EVGA SC ACX (any variant of the ACX line, really) are also great, cheap cards. You also get EVGA's great warranty service, which is definitely something I'd consider if I wasn't upgrading for a long while.

Zotac AMP! is cheap, has good clock speeds, but it doesn't have a 0dB fan mode (where the fans don't spin when the card is below 60-ish C), but you can make a custom fan curve in MSI Afterburner which a lot of people do.

The Palit Super Jetstream is also cheap & cheerful, but it's a 2.5 slot card which you may want to take into consideration if you have an older motherboard without angled SATA Ports.

G1 Gaming is a beast.

Also check your board is running latest BIOS just incase it cant "see" the new cards such as the 980ti and thus refuses to boot up.
