Astronomers may have found giant alien 'megastructures' orbiting star near the Milky Way
A star identified by the Kepler Space Telescope may harbour structures which could point to an adanced technological civilisation

Article

Pretty crazy! Especially considering they are wanting to get pictures ASAP.

Interesting and if its a true report i imagine seti will be giving this particular star its full attention.

The existance of a dyson sphere would be wonderful. Well assuming they are benevolent of course.... but its commonly assumed that a society advanced enough to construct one would most likely be non warlike, as most wars are about resources and being that advanced means you have access to nearly infinate energy anyway.

Time will tell i guess :p

They would be a typ2 civ and about 1000 years ahead of us?

At least going off the latest thinking.

Even 5k years is nothing to the universe but to a civilisation of our level its a significant amount of time.

Considering we have only been "advanced" for about 150 years then a society 1k years ahead would be VERY advanced.

I mean think of it this way, we are advanced but we still cannot manipulate gravitational forces... so laws of physics allowing we have some way to go. Of course maybe it is impossible, we simply do not know what is possible yet.

An advanced civ may well be able to create traversible stable wormholes by folding space/manipulating graviational foces around super dense stars. We simply do not know if this is even possible but if it IS then who are we to say how far they could travel.

If we went back 1k years in our own history and showed them even our pretty mundate technology they would regard it is either godlike or magic.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Arthur C. Clarke very true if you think about it!

* Sorry had to be done

If they are giant cubes then don't contact them

If they are giant rings then don't contact them

In fact just don't contact them, it's most likely to end badly for us.
