Hi all

When I was a kid I decided it would be a good idea to spray part of my ps1 black.

Is there any way I could strip the paint off without harming the grey plastic underneath?

Hahaha! How much are 2nd hand ps1's going for these days? Iv looked into the games now recently, new mint ones now £80 or so

Fairy power spray should do it. You'd been to remove the electronics first through so that they don't get wet.

Biostriip works better in my experience, is easier to use and much much nicer to handle :)

We use it for models, it's intended for most paint types around the home but unlike Nitromors (foul, horrible stuff) it doesn't seem to affect anycommon plastics I've found which is a big consideration.

You paint it on as a thickish goo and leave it for half an hour, on something with nice smooth surfaces like a console it should work wonderfully.

Cheers for the advice all. I'm trying some power spray to start with as I already had some in.

Is mustard for real or a windup? Sounds like some kind of OCUK in joke XD.

Brake fluid might do it - not personally tried but I'd be very cautious with it and use it sparingly then wipe off.

Strip it bare, all components gone and put it in very hot water, it could quite possibly be scrubbed off with not much effort. As you were young you probably didn't key the surface before you sprayed, the paint and plastic expand at different rates and it reduces the bond between the two. I've cleaned motorcycle plastics this way before when they have had spray on them.

Bit of 240/400, and rubbing compound.

Taking thinners to it is asking for it. Sprayed mine pink/grey back in the day.
