**** Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Thread ****

From the reviews seems cooling has been solved. I think the i7 will be able to meet its full potential, unlike being wasted in the SP3.
 
Don't suppose anyone knows of anyone wanting to get rid of their SP3? I'm looking for the i3 one really. It's annoying as I bet there are some on the mm.
 
I just ordered a new Surface Pro 3 Intel Core i5 4GB Mem 128GB SSD for £599, seems like a decent saving over the MS Store

Just to answer my own question new Pro 4 Type Cover works with SP3 Pro ;)
 
Great to see (finally) some detailed and decent reviews. Very positive. Still got my preorder active.

The cooling is definitely a lot better, but I can't agree that it's been solved. The chasis and form factor are still too small to prevent throttling. The anandtech review shows mild throttling of a maxed out CPU at around the 7 minute mark. Dips up and down reducing clock speed by up to 25%.

GPU clock speed reduces by nearly 50% after 30 minutes of stressing.

It would be good to see how well the i7 with iris fairs when it comes to throttling. Hopefully won't have to wait too much longer to find out.
 
I think we'll be waiting well into November for any i7 SP4 reviews and I don't think many of the numerous sites that have published reviews based on the i5/8GB/256GB SSD model will be doing updated i7 reviews so we might need to wait until people in the US start receiving their pre-orders of the i7 models next month.

Still a very long wait in the UK for an i7 SP4, 10th December feels like it's ages away!
 
Long way away. Just seen the new yoga 900 on purple shirts, due next week it says.
But its quite pricey too.. comes with a keyboard though!
 
I just ordered a Surface Pro 3 from Ebay and it's a MQ2-00001 rather thank an MQ2-00003 (as advertised), as far as I can tell MQ2-00001 is USA spec, MQ2-00003 is UK.

Are there any differences apart from the wrong power lead?

No differences, just swap the figure of 8 cable and you are done.

Warranty works worldwide.
 
Well I caved in, ordered a 256GB i5 :D.

Could anyone recommend a slim case?

Edit: POB we all know you're going to buy one sooner or later, may as well get it over with now :p

Extra wait for i7 is making me itchy to order an i5:rolleyes:
