Dead cat up the street, What should i do with it???

Might just be catatonic.................

I guess the online dead animal report or taking it to the vets would be a good idea otherwise.

Describe it colour and collar info if you can. They can put a social media note out and see if the owners find out.

or just take a photo of said dead cat and post up on facebook with the heading 'ANYONE LOSE THIS?'

If it was my cat I'd be gutted but thankful that someone decent took a family pet and stopped it being turned to mush by a car.

surely the decent thing would be to not let the animals death go to waste so why not leave it and let the scavengers have a meal?

Because he/she might well be a loved family member. Just treat it the same way you'd react if you found a dead child? Take him to the vets.

WHAT? umm no it's not like a dead child in any way shape or form it's a dead cat....and would you really take a dead child to the vets :p

I hate how we see everything below us as not deserving of life. They was someones companion and they should be informed.

We wouldn't just walk past a dead body without raising any alarm. Not like you would just carry on your day and then inform the police later about what you discovered, so why should pets be any different? We all share this planet and we all live a life of our own.

Leave it for scavengers?

Even if you dont care for other peoples feelings, scavengers have plenty of food in urban areas, no need to leave dead things lying around and rotting for hygiene reasons. An adult may look at a dead cat and think 'poor thing' or 'thats dirty' and leave it alone but children have a nasty habit of mixing curiosity and stupidity.

Clearly the OP stalked this cat, taking random pictures at every opportunity.

Then lured into a quiet field...

I never said the cat wasn't deserving of life?!

but no you're quite right in the fact the I wouldn't walk past a dead human body without raising the alarm.

but yes I would probably walk past a dead cat in a field and not feel the need to raise any alarms.

if you want to go down the route of 'we all share this planet and we all live a life of our own' who do you alert when you kill a fly, wasp or spider? who do you alert when you step on a bug? do you feel sad, do you have remorse for these creatures. or do you have an imaginary line that you draw where one animals life is 'worth' more or less than anothers

why should your pets be treated any different to any other animal?

I think we should set up a charity for the owners of the cat. £1 for every person who say's we should turn it into a drone.

Would have £4 now.

My bad, jumping a little too ahead of myself :D

I tend not to kill insects either. If we have disregard for insects and animals then we should also just disregard the humans. It's a crime to not report such a thing though :(

Sadly I see the heartless idiots are out in force as usual in this thread. Somewhere a family will be devastated that their much loved cat has gone missing. Closure, even if they find out the cat has died is important and they would be thankful to know what has become of it. Not knowing is bloody awful. Take it to a vet who will scan it for a chip. I wouldn't trust the council to do that.

I agree, answers on here very typical of the millennial generation attitude. Lacking in empathy and compassion due to seeing life through a mobile phone screen.

Maybe it would be good to take mug shots of the cat and post them on every street corner? Was the cat complete or was there bits missing or oozing blood?

Dogs are actually ;)

So someone drew the line somewhere :D

I think it's because we have bonds with them and cats. I mean i don't walk down the path and see a worm on the floor and say look it's dave again got a right personality this worm!

I think we draw the line there. With animals whom we can connect with.

No he was quite a soggy moggy. Did not look to be any blood or trauma (they tend to bleed from the nose eyes ears when hit by cars but this looked like it just passed away. If it's still there tomorrow morning i will get a snap of it. Though not sure i will post it on here as im not sure how that would be taken by some people. + i have a soul
