Make sure the guy will be willing to assist in the eventuality of warranty issues, as Zotac will only deal with the original owner and get a copy of the receipt / purchase order.

thanks for the info guys its coming boxed etc. will message him about receipt

I wouldn't chance it if he's willing to help with the warranty if something goes wrong. To be honest I wouldn't get it unless I know him well enough to trust his word either. That's a lot of money and not that far from the price new.

This alone makes it too risky.

Think about it an extra 40 quid gets you a brand new card with a full warranty and a free game.

I wouldn't bother getting the secondhand one personally.

The one you want is 529 with a free game and a 100% trustable 5 year warranty. In a few months time he could have moved. Don't risk it

I've seen the Zotac drop under 500 a few times as well thanks to the regular OCUK deals.

thanks for that the bit about the warranty got me worried as well i think i will just go for my original choice evga hybrid ive got the cash sitting its not going to bank break the bank :)

The only thing I've bought 2nd hand was for a mates build three year ago, an AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz for around £65, also a hard-drive for around £20, small costs.

If you was buying off the OcUK members market from someone who has decent trust rating, then it's probally worth the risk, providing they can issue you with proof of purchase and willing to help over the remaining warranty.

Personally, I wouldn't risk second hand unless it was EVGA with transferable warranty, or you know that a company will accept an RMA without the receipt and just going off the serial number and giving you warranty from the date of manufacture, I know AOC for example do this for their monitors, as I checked their website; Viewsonic do this also as I spoke to their customer services dept a year or two ago.

I might try and find out all the manufacturers of hardware that will accept RMA from just the serial number, Gigabyte always want a receipt as a random example, so if you're not the original purchaser you might be screwed.

ASUS will only do RMA's through the retailer, which would mean any second hand product of ASUS would have to be sent via the original purchaser and more than likely the original purchaser would receive the item back, too much hassle for a second hand item.

Congrats, It looks like an amazing card and from what I read there warranty (never had to use it myself) support is very good so if you have a problem with it you're covered.

Funnily enough, just saw this.

I'm the guy who was going to be selling the card (was on gumtree as well), and would've dealt with warranty as the card is from OcUK. Ah well. :p

Hi, I meant no offence against you personally with what I said, What I said still stands for buying something of a stranger. The fact you're a long term member of the forum does change things in so far as if you was selling it on the MM and I saw it I would put a bid in if I was after one.

You should put it on the MM. I'd drop the price though, they've been reduced to £499 a couple of times on OCUK and if you want one of the games that come with it it means catching it in a sale hardly increases the price of a new one over what you're asking.
