AMD R9 Fury X Leaps Ahead Of Nvidia GTX 980 Ti With The Latest Windows 10 Drivers

A bit misses leading the tittle of the thread, if the drivers are not out yet how can it leap anything? Oh has WCCF become reputable all of the sudden?

Drivers are out, from the article they're referencing:

Drivers: NVIDIA: 358.50 WHQL
AMD: Catalyst 15.9.1 Beta

AMD 15.9.1 drivers here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/amd-catalyst-15-9-beta-download.html

Now, if someone, you know, actually wants to do a little test to see what if any gains are made you could make this thread inevitably less painful then it will end up being.

That techpowerup article is using the 15.9.1 beta's which are old now. The latest 15.11 beta are probably a bit faster but I'm actually waiting to see if the rumoured 'Omega' style drivers due this month make a difference.

Can someone actually tell me what drivers I have. Total noob question and most likely very obvious, but not used to AMD's numbering. I see this in the CCC which does not seem to correspond with anything. Would like to try some before and after benchmarks on my Nano to see if it makes any difference. I am thinking its just 15.20 which cant be right if 15.11 are the latest.

Click software and it will tell you the version number.

Hmm i dont have any benchamrks installed atm, anyone gonna test beta vs release drivers to see if any of this is true?

Okay, I see the following under software which sort of tally's with what's displayed on the software update page. still does not seem right. Or I may just be going mad

Seems you running an old leaked driver. Leaked drivers don't display the version number.

The review uses different games to previous techpowerup reviews, it does not use some games that were very slow on AMD eg. project cars... Probably the change of games used to benchmark makes about 80% of the difference and the other 20% is actual driver improvements. eg. actual AMD performance increase 1%, increase from using different games 4% total increase 5%. To be fair project cars was unfairly biased to Nvidia, but it is still the different games used more than the actual performance increase from drivers.

Wouldn't be the first time AMD pushed their cards ahead with Drivers, remember the 7970 vs GTX 680?
actually look at them now, a 280X is just a 7970GE, its a solid 10% ahead of the GTX 770 which is a clocked up GTX 680. its getting on for snapping at the 780's heels.
there must be 20% more performance from AMD's Driver compared with Nvidia's since then.

So you're saying AMD's drivers are rubbish until about 3 years after release? :D
