That's a really strange phrase. Surely the point of contributing to a discussion forum is to learn something or practise debate or whatever. To not seek any personal development in a non-financial sense is a really weird thing to write down. Presumably the large numbers of small IT contractors asking for advice and being given genuinely good feedback would fall foul of that?

People shouldn't be asking for money in that sense anyway.

Charitable donations are encouraged but begging is not.

To answer your point Caged it was difficult to pull together that sentence without it becoming particularly verbose, which then only begins to lose meaning anyway. The message is really about intent. If you are sharing or learning that's ok, if you are gaining hits or referrals or financial benefits then that's not OK. Hope that answers that sufficiently.

Our aim is not to ban individuals. Our aim is to work with you all for the better of this community. In this we are your servants. It should be noted that all members of the team that are not in the employ of the shop provide their time and efforts free of charge for the benefit of the community as a whole. Due to this the word of a moderator should be taken as the word of that individual, or perhaps that of the team when discussion on a particular subject within the team has already been had, and is not representative of the shop.

It's a forum for Petes sake, do you have to be so officious about everything. It's the overbearing nature of this sort of stuff that ends up ruining forums.

It's not about being overbearing or officious. It's a response to something we've seen over time and hopefully will have some positive impact.

The intention behind the statements is actually diametrically opposed to officiousness.

I've seen people from both sides of an argument banned so I don't think it's quite like that (At least from what I've seen I could be wrong).

I don't get that impression at all. In a recent thread my opinion was seriously against the grain of popular thought on here and even when things became a little heated, nothing happened from a moderation point of view.

Everybody has a different opinion, and as long as this doesn't purposely offend anyone. Then moderation shouldn't be needed, the majority of us are adults here. It's all about mutual respect.

In the age of Islamification, Forced diversity and political correctness i am suprised all non computer talk is still allowed on here.

Being serious your charter is also a bunch of baloney because i submitted complaint after complaint over personal insults and people de-railing topics. I even remember asking a moderator to stop a certain individual calling people racists with no base or proof. Not a single thing was ever done on any complaint nor did i even get a single reply yet over the same period i recieved multiple bans for petty reasons, So what happened recently that forced you to start now?

Come on out with it who has been complaining or putting pressure on them?
