Feedback on today's announcement

See the triangle on the left with the exclamation mark?
[..]

In my case, no.

I've never noticed the lack of it before, since I've never wanted to report a post. I only looked for it because of these few posts about it...and it's not there.

How odd. I'm using Firefox 42, so it's not an odd browser.

EDIT: Please ignore this. I opened half a dozen forum windows from email notifications and logged in from one of those while reading it. So when I tabbed to this one, I was still seeing it from before I logged in, so of course the exclamation marks weren't showing. :)

Membership Charter and Mission Statement proven to be complete horse **** so far.

Let me quote something I said earlier.

Open and free ranging identity? Yes, as long as your face fits, right?

^^ that may as well be the mission statement. You're welcome here as long as you're the right colour, gender and sexual orientation.

You are wrong, you simply didn't get your way in a scenario that in doing so carte blanche would've been pandering and not the right decision at that time.

I gave you my opinion as an individual and offered to discuss with you in my capacity as an admin. An offer you seem not to have taken up.

In the spirit of transparency, and for clarification, is the word '******' acceptable to use here?

*edit - obviously not as it's filtered. So would you like to state why the 'N' word is filtered yet the 'T' word is fine? They are both as demeaning, dehumanising and offensive as each other .

I asked for an explanation as to why you felt the use of that word wasn't agains the member charter and lack of admin intervention wasn't against the mission statement.

No reply.

As an admin team, you made those rules and guidelines, so are accountable to them yet as soon as someone challenges you to uphold them, it fails with no explanation as to why.

Maybe I wouldn't feel so aggrieved by it all if it were actually me that was throwing about such offensive and derogatory words, but I'm the one being ****** over here because other people are being such deliberately offensive *******?

Makes no sense.

So you think it's perfectly fine to refer to a trans person by a very offensive, dehumanising and derogatory term, yet you want to discuss it with me? That's a battle I've lost before I've even taken one step forward. What's the point in discussing it if your viewpoint is so extreme to begin with?

It's Friday morning. Go grab a cup of coffee, relax and enjoy the last day of work before the weekend, and think to yourself: is it really worth getting so worked up about an issue on an internet forum?

Internet crusades, on par with trying to push water uphill.

Coffee sounds good, also popcorn, this could be good!

Are you being serious? Are you SERIOUSLY trying to suggest that tranny is somehow comparable to the systematic put down and complete abuse of millions of people?

What is it with this transgender agenda you have where you think everyone must think the same as you else they're a bigot?

Honestly, you're one of the biggest bigots this forum has seen, and some of your views are downright morally reprehensible, yet you're completely delusional about it.

Did you call someone the T word and what was the context it was used in? Regardless of the comparison to the N word, if you did call someone that. It goes against the mission statement surely?

I'm not taking sides but I'm sure most people can make a argument without the use of these "inflamatory" words.

In YOUR opinion. This is something you very clearly struggle with. Your opinion is NOT the de facto standard, and your fixation on the plight of transgender people shows you to be one, despite your claims of otherwise.

Why are you taking it upon yourself to force people into accepting that the term "tranny" is offensive when the transgender community can't even decide that for themselves? It otherwise has to be that you find out offensive if someone calls you a tranny.

There are millions of trans people in the world, so yes it's exactly the same. The word is used exclusively by those who wish to demean or abuse, or those who are (mostly wilfully) ignorant to the fact that the word is used like that.

OK, what about '****'? That's a word that's used commonly too as a demeaning insult. Is that OK here?
