ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

Watched that clip on the news the other night. At 35 secs the terrorist's gun jams while trying to shoot someone on the ground right outside the window. As he walks off, they get up and run off.

Was literally just about to say how the hell did they survive when it looks like he executes them?

So lucky.

Several streets blocked off with buses in Brussels with hundreds of troops in major operation, residents told to stay away from windows in large area.

Police: stop tweeting operation details

Posted at 20:32
Brussels police have asked journalists in the city not to tweet about the police operation under way in the centre.

Not really, have you seen the numbers they have? If he chose to, they have more than enough aircraft to carry out strikes in Africa.

I understand that but assuming this carries on from country to country which is very likely then eventually even the Russians are going to be stretched.

Kudos to the French medical services. Considering the nature of the injuries they must have been dealing with from last week, it's nothing short of miraculous that the death toll's only risen by 1 since last Friday.

There are probably a good few in the French emergency/police/military and medical services who will never get the recognition they deserve for their actions over the last few days while the terrorist's names are still making news headlines.

A suspected extremist is walking Britain’s streets despite being arrested on the Syrian border.
Waheed Ahmed, 21, and eight relatives, including a one-year-old, were picked up by Turkish police who feared they planned to join the Islamic State terror group.
They were all deported and Ahmed, a student whose father is a Labour councillor, is now a regular sight in Rochdale. He is one of a number of suspected extremists released without charge in Britain after being stopped at the Syrian border.

Around 450 have returned home. Police say the returnees pose a significant threat yet only a handful have been prosecuted. Instead they are being referred to the Government’s Prevent strategy which aims to deradicalise extremists and change their thinking.

seems like a bit of a gamble - wouldn't want to be responsible for that if one of the people who wasn't locked up under this 'Prevent' scheme then goes on to kill a bunch of people in the UK

Which is a good reason for every available country to join a wider coalition. The combined resources of the US, UK, France, Germany, other NATO countires, Russia and some of the Middle Eastern countries involved such as Jordan, are vast. But we have to act together ina very controlled and coordinated way.

Any evidence of these atrocities Assad has carried out

plenty of videos of barrel bombs being dropped on neighbour hoods.

we could have stopped this of course but labour did vote against action such as destroying his airforce.
