has anyone used these, is it a scam?

ive just ordered a set, and theyve asked to post original copies of documents, but just want to check first?
I know theyve got to see documentation to be DVLA compliant, but just want to check first its not some scam

thanks

Buy from one of the show plate websites, they'll still stick all the relevant info on if you wish but they don't ask for docs as they're only for "show use".

Bought mine from a seller on eBay 'hardridden'
Plates lasted years on my fiesta and I got some more for my SLK when I got it last year.

I've just checked where I got mine for the bike from and it was from this guy as well, quick delivery, good price, no paperwork and good quality.

Got mine from halfords, cheap, seem good enough quality, while you wait and importantly, their logo is basically invisible unless you're stood 2 inches from it.

Sod sending my log book off for some plates.

When I put the private plate on I had to take the log book with me to Mercedes to prove I could have it.

not sure what to do now, or do I just accept the loss.

already parted my £26 because they had the badge I wanted :-(

dont know what to do now

Just tell them you're not comfortable sending the original docs and you'd like a refund?

They don't do refunds, and are not under the distant selling act because they've written in there terms it's bespoke and made soon as order is in

How did you pay?

Edit: After a quick Google it would appear you are indeed stuffed unless you send your docs, plenty of unhappy people but the way they are operating is lawful.

How did you pay? I'm pretty sure they don't make the plates unless they see your documents first.

Ask them for a refund as you are not comfortable in sending the real docs. Offer them copies. Otherwise take it with your bank/paypal etc.

See this is interesting.

Inspection of documentation is a legal requirement for the printing of BS AU 145d compliant numberplates.

However custom badges are not permitted and are not legal - not even manufacturer logos on the bottom of dealer plates are legal anymore.

Therefore if they are not producing road legal plates are instead producing 'showplates' then surely there is no legal requirement for document inspection.

Lucky escape, numberplates with custom badges on are super tacky :p

Wasn't a custom badge, just couldn't find the badge on any cheap the bay lists, see plenty cars with the badge though, and does conform to dvla regs according to Neighbor MOT tester.
